Tesla is a American company 1st should be out in the us 1st
Tesla sells more Model Ys in China than in the US. So it's not really surprising that the "Juniper" MY refresh was released in China first.

Tesla also sells more Model 3s in China than in the US. The recent "Highland" refresh of the M3 was similarly released in China before it got to the US. In fact, Europe got "Highland" before the US too, because European M3s are imported from China.

Tesla doesn't sell the Cybertruck in China (at least not yet), and sales of Models X/Y are very low. However, sales of Models 3/Y in China are so high that China surpassed the US as Tesla's #1 market in 2024.

And China is even more dominant when it comes to Tesla production. The Shanghai plant makes more vehicles than Tesla's other three plants (Fremont, Texas, Berlin) put together, even though Shanghai only makes Models 3/Y. Globally, most Teslas are Made in China (although all US/Canadian Teslas are made in Fremont or Texas).

During 2024, Tesla sales fell in the US (-5.0%) and Europe (-10.7%). But they kept on rising in China (+7.9%). So if current trends continue, China could become even more vital to Tesla in 2025.

Numbers from Troy Teslike, since Tesla doesn't provide detailed info.

So their 0-100 at 4.3 should make our 0-60 around 4.2, same as the current 3 and just a tad slower than CT AWD. Can’t have CT being beat off the line by 3/Y can we?

One particularly interesting feature of the refreshed Model Y:
Tesla also added what they call "Anti-Gravity" seats, though it's still vague what this exactly means.
My guess would be that they are similar to Nissan's "Zero Gravity" seats, which are supposed to support your body in a neutral position that minimizes driver fatigue. They are based on the seats that NASA developed for astronauts in weightless environments.

There are some other intriguing theories about the "Anti-Gravity" seats, involving the use of metallic mesh fabric and powerful magnetic fields to levitate your butt while driving, but unfortunately those seem less likely.

Dont like it.
I never liked the looks of the baby Beluga whale Model Y, but this is a Model Y I could actually own. Somehow they sculpted it to look sleeker. If they did that without reducing interior volume much (or at all), it was a huge success.

Great to see ModelY revamp coming to life. I hope this doesn't distract them too much from pushing innovation on the Cybertruck and getting the nonFS 2025 Cybertruck to Canadians!

Now if they can work up a plaid or plaid equivalent Model Y trim spec that would be most excellent! ?

I thought that turned out to be an aftermarket mod.

You’re confused. Tesla is a company first. And the function of a company is simple make money. Their biggest/most important market is in China. Get used to it.

And weirdly I just answered my own - ā€œpissing off your core customerā€ rant. The fallacy in my thinking was to believe that tree hugging California-esq liberals we’re still Tesla’s core customer. They are not!

Tesla core customer, at this juncture, doesn’t give a shit about left/right politics in America because they’re not American, they’re Chinese. ??ā€ā™‚

As for the car, DO. NOT. LIKE. I don’t like the M3 refresh either. But that’s irrelevant, with the exception of my Aptera, I have every car that I want and I’m perfectly satisfied.

Not bad. I’m surprised Tesla doesn’t have a real SUV at this point. I think a Tesla Tahoe-sized vehicle that seats 7 and has a ton of cargo space and 400 miles or more of range would be a great seller.
Something as large as a Tahoe would not have 400 miles or more of range. At most it would have what the CT has or less. The MY has less (311 for the AWD long range and 337 for the RWD long range).
