I totally agree with you. This truck is more than double what I would justify spending on a depreciating asset. It took me three days to decide to pull the trigger on configuration back in December '23 when I was sent the invite from Tesla. That three days put me much farther down the list. The reason it took me three days to decide is because of price. I had budgeted the cost to be $80k. So $120k was a blow out of my plan. Now I have the truck and its unlike anything I've ever owned and I look for places to drive to for any reason.
Thanks BeFamous.
Now, you are famous because I admired your decision to go beyond your budget and fully enjoying the result. Happy for you.

Although I expected to get mine next year, I also received an invite for the foundation series that I would have had started driving this month but I couldn't pull the trigger. It's so much of a luxury because I don't need it for anything but for vanity. My pressure is, I turned 80, although I'm active, I asked myself when will i buy something that I really want regardless of the price. I answered to myself, I bought a BMW years ago for vanity, too. Well, maybe, I'll wait for next year. ? ?

All the pre-order folks are holding out for the cheaper non-Foundation Series
Perhaps not all but I certainly am. The FS up charge puts the AWD out of rebate range so net difference is 27,500 . I understand you get xxx with foundation series but many of us do not have that extra budget to throw at it .
I do hope Tesla ends FS soon but suspect it will end when the orders do.

Another national article out today saying they scrapped 60k and 80k models. Looks like Tesla hit pieces out in full force.

Also noticed it says on site that rear wheel drive is 2025 delivery. Why doesn’t the media report this?

No, it doesn't.

Right now you can order FS only, the non-FS and RWD have not been cancelled, but were removed from the website temporarily while FS are open to everyone. They didn't raise the price, either.
yes. We all know this but the general public does not. They read a piece published this week and it says they canceled them and raised the price. This is what the general public will believe.

I don't know where you guys are looking but the Tesla Cybertruck order cite says $100K for the AWD 2 motor & $120K for the Beast "3 motor". (see Pics) Two wheel drive in 2025. "Today 8/12/2024".
When I ordered a Cybertruck in Feb of 2021 I ordered a 3 motor because of the projected range, 500 miles and the price was $60K. I do understand ALL prices are way INFLATED due to the China Virus AND BidenOmic's. But DOUBLED NOW ??? That's a little to CRAZY for Me, I'm OUT !!!!! At $60K I was stretching the budget ! But I was hoping things would Change and I would have taken an AWD two motor CT at the $80K mark, again "Way Way" Over My Budget. But now that they Jacked the price to $100K !!! Like they say on the Price Is Right show, "Thats To Much" !!!!! Sooooo, I will still be monitoring the CTOC just to see the progress of the CT and if the bugs are all worked out. I do believe in the EV technology and in Tesla because of the price Jump, I just "CANCELLED" my Reservation, RN11445**** of Feb 2021. So someone just jumped up one on the reservation List. Good Luck To All with their CT's !!

Be Safe Out There !!!

As said elsewhere, Tesla hasn't raised the price of the CT (since launch). The 100k is for the Foundation Series AWD and $120k for the Foundation Series Beast.

They haven't cancelled non-Foundation, but they opened them up on the website to non-reservation holders. It's been projected that FS will be delivered until the end of 2024, then the non-FS will begin (80k AWD, 100k Beast). Orders are supposed to begin for non-FS this quarter.

Not interesting at all, just poor research from the writer.
They haven’t changed anything, it’s just they closed reservations and switched to immediate order with only the two trims of the Foundation series being available to order.
This is what you call a HIT PIECE.

It’s not true though. It says Tesla canceled the non foundation and rear wheel drive. They didn’t. It’s the same as it’s been since launch.

I have banned Jalopnik and many other main stream feeds from all my feeds. It's a pleasure to silence them forever.

Electrik also has Elon Derangement Syndrome and I've banned them too.

Jalopnik died MANY years ago, even before elon/electric vehicles. All these sites went political and woke and inject their pet politics into everything and became intolerable shrews a long time ago.

I highly recommend Flipboard and other sites like it that let you tailor your interest and ban corrupt media to your taste. It's highly satisfying banishing them permanently from your own personal existence.
I agreed to all you said here and believe me that I'm impartial to this conversation but I'm thinking, wouldn't that sound like you only want to listen to what you want to hear?

True, that is a reasonable supposition. For what 'I do not want to hear' i know where to find it very easily when that is what I'm looking for. For example, when I'm looking at tech or car sites, I absolutely do *not* want to hear about politics. When/if I want to hear about politics, I know where to find that. And not even once have I not guessed what 'the people I do not want to hear from' would say with over 99% accuracy—like to the point I even guess the literal phrasing.

And the point of my reading tech/car sites is to run away from hearing about politics (from which I'm overdosed at this point, so the last place I want to hear about is in a forum I'm running to get away from politics, much less from people I have less than 0 respect for with regard to their views/abilities to discuss that topic--much the same way I have less than 0 care about political reporters/analysts commenting on cars or tech).

There used to be this old 'broken telephone' joke where soldiers receive some beans and report it down through the trenches where by the 20th retelling of 'yay we got some beans to eat' at the end of the trench line it was retold the 20th time as 'today your wife was caught and is a cheat'. The soldier at the end was delighted and smiled saying, "oh wow we got beans today" and his friend asked how he knew that from the message he just relayed. The soldier answered: "I know this broken trench [ie telephone] line well".

So for the vast majority of 'what i do not want to hear', yea, I know that broken message well. :D

Got you. Listen to the experts in their field, not to the idiots.
