Any idea how hard they are to remove? Does it leave a residue? Or does it come off cleanly? I'm guessing it must come off cleanly, given they offer a subscription.
I show the removal in the install video, but V1 uses VHB (black foam) adhesive, V2 uses a PVT (gel) adhesive. The easiest way to remove it is to pry it away with a trim tool, or even an old credit card or membership card, then 'roll' off any of the VHB residue with your thumb, and use the alcohol swap to prep the surface for the next one. The PVT gel comes off more cleanly, and is less susceptible to surface contamination (leading to leaks).

Here is what my v1 looked like after getting CT washed today. Water is inside the cover. After an hour driving around and sitting it is still wet inside the cover and I"ll probably have to remove it I ordered a v2 so hopefully it will not do this again with water getting inside.

It's difficult to determine what's happened here. Obviously, there's been some water ingress, but there's no way to really know if it's an installation issue or an adhesive issue. But obviously it's not supposed to be that way. If it was a car wash that uses pressure washers as part of the process, then that's certainly not ideal. I pressure wash mine (by hand), but it's important be careful around the cover.

I will say, that for the Model 3/Y cover, we had more issues like this, but those are a more complex shape, have less adhesive, and more of an enclosed area, so there's more chance of issues. The CT cover is flat, and so far we've had less ingress issues based on the first batch of 1000.

That area on the back of the CT is obviously very abusive in terms of airflow and crud getting thrown up due to the aero effect across the top of the vault cover, so if there's any place some moisture can get in, it will. If you've not done so already, please reach out to support for a replacement, regardless of cause, we'll always offer a replacement with evidence of an issue. Mention this thread and the Gator's t-shirt, they're expecting you :)

This happens every time on my model Y when I go through a car wash. Cleaning doesn't help much, that's why I hand wash when I have a cover on. A regular hose won't bother it.

What about applying rainX?
Doesn't work. Nor does the Glaco wet hydrophobic treatment. We tried them all before going in the direction of a cover. Rain-X does have a product specifically meant for plastic, and it does help the water bead, but it's not hydrophobic enough for the water to fall off.

When I did the install, I hit both the truck camera housing and the AO lens cover with a heat gun for a few seconds. Dunno if that would make a difference or not, but maybe it helps the adhesive bond better.

Certainly doesn't do any harm, especially if it's a bit chilly (<55f) (or just park in the sun for a few minutes).

I had this occur also but fixed. The version1 (haven't replaced with v2 yet) 3m ahesive was so difficult to remove the red tab that when installed it left an opening where rain water could enter. Fortunately, that opening apparently allowed the water to evaporate after 2 days, I trimmed a high quality electric tape to cover the opening and no water enters. I read somewhere the 3m adhesive has been improved in v2, as others had similar issues.

Outside of this issue (and once it was stopped), this has been an excellent improvement and i continue my subscription.

it works well but not happy that i can see the edges when in reverse camera mode. I'm wondering if its also impeding the FSD for detection on those edges.
V2 improves that, but even for V1, there's no reason to think that FSD is impacted. As best we can tell, it (FSD) always uses the default 1x setting, as there's no complaints from the truck about the rear camera visibility, and there certainly is if you obscure more of it.

I installed a V2 unit on my CT. Drive it for 1 day, and took it back off. Way too much vignetting on the screen when I am relying on the camera to back my truck into my drive.

I applied two layers of Rain X, and it works like a charm. I had the V1 of this and had to return due to a couple issues or concerns. Best of luck yall

Do you have a front camera protector/lens cover in the works? I'd prefer to order both at the same time...
