Fusebox Location?

[rizvend]

Passenger side front roof rack mounting point and in the frunk by the passenger wheel well of the giga casting.

Very useful info and the best answer to the original question.?

Yes, they are all over Amazon. DC/DC Converter Regulator Reducer 48V Step Down to DC 12V 20A 240W
Thanks for your input everyone.
For those who want to add EMS or LED lighting to your CT. You may want to put this in your notes.

Try to be a little careful when ordering them. Many of the ones that I've seen don't seem to have the wire gauge to support their current limits.

Wiring diagrams should be easy to come by once they are selling regular Cybertrucks
Goto https://service.tesla.com/ and login in with your Tesla account.
Only S, X, Y and 3 plus Roadster there so far, but the CT will show up.

Yes, 12v is the norm for LED lighting.

The norm for LED lighting is 5v. LEDs want between two and five volts, depending on their make.

Which means all 12v LED lighting for has some sort of extra circuitry to bring the voltage down to what LEDs prefer,

These are the types of LED lights would be used. https://ledoutfitters.com/police-lights/damega-element-4-surface-mount-grille-light/
Could probably use a 48v-24v converter.
Thanks,

Not sure if this falls under DIY projects or "F around and find out" category. ??

Not quite. An LED only needs around 1-1.5V (it's a diode). 5V LED systems have voltage compensating solutions as well.
12V is often 10 LEDs in a series with some protection circuitry.

Typical red leds have a vf of 2-2.4v, blue and green from 3.2-3.7v. White has a wider range because they come in some weird configurations, but start at a typical floor of around 3v. We are talking about emergency lights here, so I'm figuring red, blue, and/or amber.

But normally consumer LED products come attached to 5v or 12v drivers.

Leds in general are only inherently 5 or 12v if they have a step down built in, even though it can just look like they are normal leds.

To OP, the big issue here probably won't be hooking up to the 48v, but rather if tesla will unlock the aux lighting button on trucks that don't get their light bar installed. Doesn't do you much good to hook up there if you can't toggle it, and it certainly isn't hot by default.

EDIT: For clarity, I'm saying the light bar wires probably aren't hot by default. There may be a 48v hookup that IS hot by default, just not that one.

I would install a quality DC-DC Converter so you don't burn up your brand new $80k + vehicle

Victron makes exactly what you are looking for with all the certifications and standards

It is odd to me that Tesla does not have the Cybertruck on their first responder page yet:

Has any of the current CT owners located an accessible fusebox I. their work of art??

Post pics please! ?

MOSFET fuses (like TM3) AFAIK

Related TMC post I had saved off

There indeed are zero fuses on the 12v side. All circuit protection is performed solid-state, which in practice means a transistor (MOSFET) is used to switch all the loads, and the body controllers monitor the current going though each of these and in the event of an overload, it just switches off the transistor. It's much faster and safer, and allows a more reliable and easy to diagnose car. It is more expensive, but this was needed to make the M3 fault tolerant to achieve full self driving with confidence.

BARD LLM:

A MOSFET, or Metal Oxide Semiconductor Field-Effect Transistor, is a type of transistor that uses an electric field to control the flow of electricity. It's a critical component in modern electronics, found in everything from smartphones and computers to electric vehicles and medical devices. Here's a breakdown of its key features:
Structure:

• Three terminals: Gate, Source, and Drain.
• Insulated gate separates the input (Gate) from the current-carrying channel (Source and Drain).

Operation:

• Applying voltage to the Gate creates an electric field that attracts or repels charges within the channel, ultimately controlling the flow of current between Drain and Source.
• When no voltage is applied to the Gate, the channel remains blocked, acting as an insulator (off state).
• Applying a sufficient voltage to the Gate overcomes the insulating barrier, allowing current to flow freely between Drain and Source (on state).

Advantages:

• High input impedance: Requires minimal control current.
• Fast switching speed: Efficiently handles rapid changes in signal.
• High power density: Can handle large currents in small packages.
• Scalable: Can be manufactured in very small sizes for integrated circuits.

Applications:

• Power switching: Used in DC-DC converters, motor drivers, and other power electronics circuits.
• Amplification: Used in signal amplifiers and radio frequency circuits.
• Logic circuits: Form the building blocks of complex digital circuits.
• Memory: Used in various types of memory devices like DRAM and Flash memory.

Overall, MOSFETs are versatile and highly efficient transistors that play a significant role in shaping the technological landscape. Their ability to control current with minimal input power and high speed makes them a valuable tool for various applications across electronics and beyond.

Seeing that the last year listed is 2022, but the Model X is only shown as 2020, I don't find it surprising to me. But it's pretty much the same. Open frunk, cut big red wire marked as firefighter, cut here.

Tesla should loan out the crash-test Cybertrucks to the local Fire Departments so they can practice extraction and remediation techniques. Would make for a great informational video.
