No, the Tesla Cybertruck does not have a true "Crab Walk" mode like the GMC Hummer EV's CrabWalk feature, where all four wheels turn in the same direction to move the vehicle diagonally (sideways) while keeping the body oriented forward. What It Does Have
  • The Cybertruck features four-wheel steering (rear-wheel steering up to a certain angle) combined with steer-by-wire.
  • This gives it an ultra-tight turning radius (it can maneuver like a much smaller vehicle) and excellent nimbleness in tight spaces, parking, or off-road scenarios.
  • Rear wheels turn to help with sharp turns, parallel parking, and overall agility—often making it feel surprisingly easy to handle despite its size.
  • Tesla has demonstrated prototypes "crab-walking" in testing videos (e.g., at Giga Texas in 2023), but this was more about showcasing the steering system's capabilities than a dedicated user-selectable "crab mode."
Why No Full Crab Walk?
  • Tesla engineer Wes Morrill (lead for Cybertruck) explained in 2024 that the company considered a full Crab Walk-style feature but tested it and found it "clunky/awkward" and not particularly useful in real-world scenarios.
  • It's limited in practicality (like the Hummer EV's version, which only works at very low speeds ~1-20 mph and is mostly a novelty for off-roading/parking).
  • Tesla prioritized other handling benefits from the steer-by-wire + rear steering setup instead.
Current Status (as of late January 2026)
  • No software update has added a dedicated Crab Walk mode.
  • Owner reports, forum discussions (e.g., Cybertruck Owners Club), and recent X posts confirm it's not available—some even explicitly say "Cybertruck does not have 'Crab Walk' mode."
  • The four-wheel steering is active and praised for making the truck feel nimble (e.g., "duck and weave through narrow gaps like it’s nothing").
  • Early hype from 2021 (Elon teasing "drive diagonally like a crab") evolved into the current implementation, but not the full Hummer-style diagonal crab.
If Tesla ever enables something closer via OTA (unlikely based on their stance), it would probably be announced directly. For now, enjoy the tight turns and steer-by-wire magic—it's one of the standout handling features! If you've driven one or have a specific scenario in mind, let me know for more details.

Might want to check how other Tesla cars with the update are performing. I’ve come across a few that have reported issues after updating especially around navigation. I’m holding off until Tesla starts documenting their changes. The version I’m on now is stable enough. I don’t want any undocumented bugs to deal with.

The CT does not have ASS because it was written with the AP stack and the CT doesn't have nor will ever get AP. I'm sure with UFSD ASS will be integrated to FSD.

With AP going away, for all vehicles ASS will have to be ported to FSD stack, which means we could get it anytime, but Tesla hasn't provided any real guidance.

edit: You citing Grok is as valuable as someone else citing Reddit. Grok just scours the internet, mostly X. It's just people like you and me they are citing along with release notes.

Speaking for myself, the last few OTAs contains lots of errors. And the latest is no better. It is an issue on all 3 of my Cyberbeasts and my Model 3 Performance Highland. It will turn into dead-end streets, turn the opposite direction against navigation's instructions. Nearly colliding with a center island sign post while it hesitated in making a left turn. Making numerous unnecessary lane changes within a few hundred feet of travel. Just acting weird overall. AI Hallucination? Perhaps. Some people on the FSD team deliberately sabotaging the system? Can't rule that out...
Anyone else has any thoughts on this?

Tailgating at 65 in Sloth, Chill, Standard, and Hurry is less than 1.5 car lengths lately. I constantly have to dissengage, complain, fall back 200 ft, and reengage over my weekly 105 mile trip from Fort Lauderdale to Naples.
yes, mine tailgate people on the freeway cause some anger from front drivers and leaves a giant gap on inside road which cause frustration from behind driver so often time they were just go around and cut me off.

This latest version is by far the worst iteration of fsd since version 4. I had to disengage 4 times due to not following the route correctly. Really disappointed. I hope they fix this quick.

Updating now, I have all the same issues:

Dry wipes (not as frequent)

Tailgating, too far behind, never accelerated into the sweet spot where the driver in front doesn't get upset your tailgating or the person behind is aggressively trying to close the gap in traffic and pass you.

Constantly changing speed profiles to go with the flow of traffic, having to set sloth mode to exit freeway as to no miss exit or last minute lane change cutting off other drivers. Again if it was more aggressive with merging this wouldn't be a problem but FSD likes to merge right in front of other vehicles instead of utilizing all the space in front of the vehicle.

FYI. this a point point release (i.e. x.x.4), so REALLY small changes.

I expect big navigation improvements on the next point release (i.e. 14.3 or 14.4) along with improved parking spot selection.
