Cybertruck pulls stuck semi out with frunk winch (Mission)

[Old Spice]

From owner (Braden Smith):

He was pretty surprised I pulled his stuck semi out at the campground with the Cybertruck.

It's a frunk winch (Mission winch) powered by a 12v battery mounted in the frunk.

[Fugue]

What winch was that?

That's the guy that lives on a Farm somewhere north, pretty cool guy..

Pretty dumb to pull something that is much heavier than the weight limit on the winch, even if the Semi wasn't fully "stuck". Could've ended very poorly for someone if the line snapped

[Edphonse]

That's funny he is using a victron mppt. I was planning on the same thing when/if I put a winch on mine. Though I am considering saving my frunk to mount 800vdc power supplies and connect those to the now defunct range extended connection or wireless charging connectors to make my own range extended with a 12k or 20k genny in the bed/trailer.

How so? There was no one standing in the way.

Technically, when a towline or its support gives, there is a ”triangle of death” that represents the zone where something might fly with great force and kill someone. It happens too often.

Winching, towing or extracting is always dangerous if you don't know what you're doing. Some people just don't seem to have what we refer to as "common sense".

It's perfectly fine to use a winch on vehicles that weigh more than the winches capacity, sometimes much more, depending upon the situation. In this case the ground was level and thus the weight of the semi was not on the winch, it was on the trucks tires. The winch just had to overcome the drag force.

Not sure why you quoted me? Winch capacity doesn't mean it's a hard limit. I don't agree with the guy that said you shouldn't exceed winch capacity. You definitely shouldnt exceed line capacity but that's why there are snatch blocks. Used a 12k winch on my old jeep to pull my f350+rv (roughly 28k total weight) out of some very soft sand. Physics is a helluva a drug.

Apologies, looks like I clicked on the wrong post when replying. I've fixed it now.

What front bumper is that??!??

[Thunderstrike44]

Ok, First I would like to say, is that's Cool!, and nice job of mounting, from a lifetime Jeep Offroader.
Second I would like to point out the comments about Line snapping and putting people in danger, NOT! What you failed to see is this guy is using Synthetic Rope winch line and not steel cable. IF IT Was Steel cable I would agree, but the Synthetic Rope just drops and does not create the Whip of Death that Steel Cable does. So take it from someone very familiar with winch Very Stuck Jeeps and Hummers out of the Muck. He was fine in that respect.
Question I have it HOW did you mount that Winch? I like it and would like to learn?

[hemiarch]

Agree with all that. Extraordinarily cool. Would also like to learn, please share what you’ve done here.
