Eventually a mat designer will actually own a Cybertruck and ask, hey why does the bed width widen out here at the rear? HINT: It is so the rear hidden storage hatch can be raised and not interfere with hooks or bottle openers on the L-track. When you put a bed mat that is designed like everyone else's I have seen, you cannot fully open the hatch without the mat hitting the L-track attachments. IMHO, bed mats need a seam that matches the hatch width to prevent this.

My bed mat I bought off Temu opens with the hatch door just fine with no issue.
My exact one isn't on there anymore...I bought it almost a year ago. But it was similar to this one. There are dozens of them on there:

I have posted a picture below to illustrate the problem. One cannot place L-track hooks in the yellow area and then fully open the trunk lid with them in place. Bed mats need a seam cut in where I placed the red line, so the outside flap of the mat remains flat to the bed when the lid is raised.

I have a bunch of L track hooks and mounts attached in that area. My bed mat is flexible enough to not catch anything attached.

If there was a slit there, I would think it would lift up and cause more problems when objects are in the bed.

Totally agree with this. It’s a design flaw of every single one of these mats but I think they reason that the ability to protect the bed completely from spills is more important than the ability to open it with l-track accessories in place which like you I don't see eye to eye with.
Also just wanted to say with respect to the thread title… that we have really different ideas of what a party looks like.

Yes, It could be redesigned and still protect from spills and drain to the rear with minimal engineering and very little additional manufacturing cost. Just incorporate some interlocking u-channels into the mat that line up along both side edges of the trunk lid. - See concept illustrated below-

(FWIW, I actually took some shears to my bedliner and cut a seam along both sides of the trunk lid so that I am able open the lid without having to remove my L-track hooks.)

and while on the topic, the design engineers at Tesla goofed on the handle design for the smugglers bay.

Hint: close your tailgate, keep it closed, and attempt to open the compartment lol

Totally agree with this.

The problem seems to be that you guys have stiff bed mats. Why, I don't know? No need to be stiff, just flexible like every single mat I know of, including all the ones inside the cab to protect from debris, abrasion, and spills. Stiffness just makes it unnecessarily thicker and actually worse, IMO. I've had this mat for nearly a year now and the problem you are describing never even crossed my mind. And I have had the rings/hooks all over the place, including where this mat opens.

I'll wait for the video.
