Hello Everyone, so I wanted to make a thread and get some suggestions on what to do next with my tires. I recently got a flat and had to get a brand new tire at the SC. Apparently it was a large nail or screw and they told me they tried twice to plug it but had no luck. So now I've got one brand new tire (front driver side) and 3 with around 13k miles on them (still plenty of life in them although one of them has been plugged because of different god damn nail). All of them are the factory scorpion A/T tires. I've got a service appointment for a faulty charge door and some other things coming up on Tuesday and wanted to get some suggestions because it's probably terrible for the truck to be riding around with only one brand new tire.

Do I just get a full set of a different tire and keep the the brand new scorpion (and the others? Wondering if they are worth anything) as a spare? Is there even a "Donut" wheel I can buy to use with it?

What are some of the best CT tires for efficiency/road noise outside of the stock AT tires? Don't really care for all weather tires because my AT's have been just fine in my last 2 Ohio winters. I've read the forums but there's so many options and I know nothing about tires. Would prefer something that still looks cool but at a cheaper price. I don't really want to spend 600 per tire on the scorpions unless there are no better options.

This may seem like kind of a dumb thread but the CT is the first car (and EV) I own and have to buy tires for. All my other cars have been beaters and leases that I didn't need to buy tires for. Let alone big expensive ones haha. So I just want to make sure I'm choosing the right thing to do for this thing.

You’re good — this isn’t a “you must replace all four right now” situation.

Cybertruck doesn’t have a traditional mechanical AWD system like Subarus or older AWD vehicles where mismatched tire diameters can cause drivetrain damage. With the CT’s motor setup and software-controlled torque, one new tire with three at ~13k miles isn’t going to hurt anything.

The simplest and smartest move is:
  • Rotate all four tires so the new one isn’t stuck on a single corner
  • Make sure all pressures are dead even
  • Let the new tire naturally wear in over time
Tesla doesn’t require shaving tires, and they don’t recommend replacing all four just because one is new.

If you want to change tires, that’s more of a preference call than a necessity. A lot of people switch off the factory Scorpions mainly for noise and efficiency, not because they have to. If you go that route, keeping the brand-new Scorpion as a full-size spare makes sense, and the three used ones will still sell locally they definitely aren’t worthless with that mileage.

There isn’t a donut option for the Cybertruck, so it’s full-size spare only. Bottom line: rotate them and drive it, or upgrade tires if you’re looking for quieter/cheaper but you don’t need to panic-replace all four.

it happened to me and I just repaired the one they said they would not repair. I have a nice spare now.

First off thank you for the help. I was told by others that it could damage the car having an uneven tire so it's good to know I don't have to worry about that. As far as rotating how would I go about it with this new tire? I was scheduled for a tire rotation on this upcoming SC visit before the popped tire should I just have them proceed as normal? I had a bunch of little service things I was bringing it in for so figured I'd just pay to have them do it while it's there.

As far as other tires go, you got any suggestions for better efficiency/noise? Everything I've seen seems to be less efficient or noisier than the factory scorpions.

I would take the damaged tire to a specialty shop for a 2nd opinion on repair just in case, and use it as a cold spare just in case it is viable.

Otherwise if you don't don't already have a winter & summer set, maybe this is a good opportunity? Don't most folks up north do that for maximum safety?

You mention mileage on the remaining 3, but not tread. If the remaining 3 tires are around 7/32nds, I'd put 2 new tires on the rear, the 2 best on the front and keep that 3rd tire as a spare. If they're all around 3-4/32nds I'd just replace all 4. There's no center diff, so no need to replace all 4 tires like other AWD systems, but you should still stay within 3/32nds on the on the same axle.

I just replaced my factory Goodyears with Michelin Defender LTX Platinum all weather tires- mileage warranty 70K miles. I do not go off road. These new tires are both smoother riding and quieter than the Goodyears. Just under $500 at Discount Tire.

They don't last much longer than 25k with normal highway driving anyways. I got the K03s and have put 25k on them and have only lost 2mm of tread. A Much better tire. Just an fyi.

unless the hole on the side wall, you can get a Screw-Plugs kit from Amazon and fix the tire yourself, and keep it in the truck for road side emergency. i used this kit for all my cars, it is very ez to use and it did last the life of the tire.

Thank you all for the responses. Thinking I may just leave as is until it warms up and then swap out all four for something new. Seems like the KO3 and Defender LTX Platinum are the frontrunners for most people? Anyone got any pros/cons for each?

Aero covers are in storage. I am happy with the Tesla hub covers.

It makes no sense to me that the aero covers are going to sit in everyone’s garages.

Would love a new tire with the dedicated sidewall design that is all. I heard the wrangler territory is discontinued. Also would like something with more tread life and I assume that’s why the duratracs and scorpion winter tires are now the only replacement

This is the only correct answer here.

Thankfully someone knows what they are talking about.
