Air Suspension Motor Humming/Buzzing

Has anyone experienced what seems like the Motor that powers the air suspension running when nothing is happening?

I’m not able to nail it down exact situation that causes it, but:

Sometimes I’ll be at a stoplight, super quiet cabin, no change in suspension height - but there is a motor buzzing away. It seems like it‘s for the air suspension.

It’s not the end of the world and only noticeable because the cabin is so whisper quiet.

I’ve tried putting the suspension at high, thinking the system wouldn’t need to charge if it is already at the highest setting - no luck.

I put it on low in case the system needs a reset, like there’s a hysteresis in the height, pressure sensor system vs. charge of the system - no luck.

Its refilling the air tank. Your compressor doesn’t go directly to the suspension. It doesn’t have the volume. As your CT goes from Entry height to whatever you have it set at it fills the suspension from the tank. When the tank pressure gets below a set point the compressor kicks on. It also could kick on from temperature related pressure changes.

I heard it as well but i did not know where it came from. my setting is always at medium and no change at entry level mode.

Look in the service menu if one is concerned with leaks. Mine was running a bit more than I was used to. Sure enough. One bad one leaking.

My 25 AWD CT is doing the same thing. Compressor will not shut off. I’ve taken to TSC. They say no codes so no problems. They also stated some of these are failing and would have to be towed in if this happens. I’m afraid this will be happening to mine before they will fix it. I have found that if I put the truck in park, at a stop light, then back into drive it will usually shuts off the compressor for the rest of the trip. This is not the way the truck was the first 4000 miles. This is an obvious software or hardware issue. I hope Tesla will fix this before we are stranded somewhere

Same here, just started doing it over the past week or two. Curious if it may be a software issue, has this just started for you guys?

The CT is normally changing heights based on speed. The compressor turns on quite a lot. I have been hearing it for over a year now, its not a new problem.

There is a fix, just turn up the volume on the music/radio.

Noticing this as well in last month or two. Recently brought into Service Center and as noted above, told everything operating within spec - but for sure this is new behaviour, did not do this for first 9 months!

Assuming this will continue until a failure occurs and then they will fix. Sounds like a common enough problem though so hopefully not.

seems almost every time I leave out of the garage at the crib, right as i cross the threshold of the gate, i hear a quick little 2-4 second motor sound that sounds like it's under the console (it may not be as we know sound can travel through the car and sounds like its someplace else). i don't see it as a problem, but i notice it when it's quiet. it's at entry height at rest and when i drive off,. it goes from 5 feet 8 to five feet 9. its funny because it happens at the exact spot.

About the exact spot height adjustment. if you adjust the height it will save the location and repeat every time you go there(it’s a feature). Clear the history in the menu(forget where it’s at).
