There are a bunch of posts on why I should have disabled the MyQ app’s auto-close feature. I just learned the hard way, after backing my Cybertruck into my garage door 😭

I know I’m looking at about $2,000 in repairs. At least my guy lives near me and is rushing over this afternoon to fix it.

Now that it’s too late I disabled “Auto-close when leaving”. It never seems to work consistently anyway… except for when I’m not actually leaving.

Oh wow! Sorry to hear you had this happen. That sucks. But for some reason, the MyQ on my truck is completely gone! I thought they lost the contract with Tesla and took it away because I can't seem to find it anymore and Ive been having to open my door manually with a remote controller now. Has anyone else lost theirs as well?

I've had a few instances where the door closes and a a minute later opens leaving my garage open for several hours. I know because I check my video feeds after the fact. It's sending another signal after completing it's task once it's off my home wifi. It's a bit disappointing. MyQ should have a specific state built in instead of just sending a signal and toggle the door state.

Why would your door be open? you could control it from the phone after you realize that it didn’t close. you could even set a notification to tell you the door is open after a certain amount of time.

Bummer man, hate to see it.. I have auto-close on and so far no trouble, but once I'm out it works about 90% of the time.. MyQ is so bad, I don't know now they became king of the IOT garage market

This happened to me as well a few months ago. I had to search for it, play with the settings and then the little icon reappeared:

Had this happen as well. I “fixed” it by scheduling MyQ to close my door every hour. A brute force solution to a problem MyQ created.

I feel the garage door pain, happened to me and I have had random closes with near misses. Both frustrating, costly and bloody annoying…to top it off the wife and kids grill me for “driving into the garage door”…

I had this happen as well and was able to fix it by moving the MyQ hub higher on the wall. At first, I mounted it only 4-5 feet from the ground but MyQ wants it at least 6 feet from ground. For me, the strange thing was: it worked fine for 6 months then it started doing what you’re experiencing.

I also installed a webcam in my garage so I can visually see if my door is closed.

So, try mounting it higher and or double check WiFi signal strength the MyQ hub has.

Sorry to hear this happened. What’s the scenario that caused this?

Were you backing into the garage and then MyQ triggered to close the door while you were backing up?

Thanks for the advice, mine is mounted on the door and I have an access point a few feet away. This is an issue with the vehicle sending a signal when it transfers from the house wifi to either Starlink or LTE from the vehicle. I also have cameras, so have started to check them when I leave.

It happened to me also. Mine was as simple as backing up into my garage and she decided to close on its own. Minor damage but still sucks.

same thing happened to me, I was pulling into garage and the door started closing. Hit the rear of the bed and tore some of my wrap on the upper rear edge but luckily no damage.
