There is a section of highway not far from the tesla plant where the speedlimit is 85. The truck frequently reads it as 65.

There is a stretch of E-470 in Denver going north, where my CT thinks it's a speedway. Thank goodness FSD maxes out at 85.

I have to turn off FSD for US 60 in the Phoenix valley. Truck keeps going back and forth from thinking the speed limit is 65 mph to 60 mph and back every half mile. I wouldn't mind so much if I didn't think it would get me shot.

Long ago, Mobileye held the patent for “computer reading of street signs via in-vehicle camera” or some such, and it was presumed that Tesla’s AP/FSD was forced to work around the problem. So they’ve mostly gotten a pass on this, and rely primarily on map data.

IDK if the patent still holds, but no one is gonna fully trust an autonomous vehicle that can’t distinguish between a sign that says “SPEED LIMIT” and a highway marker.

When all cars are autonomous no one will GAF but we’re a long way from there.

I know that human input is error yada yada but why the hell not crowd source this like Waze?
allow users to tap the speed limit sign in the FSD visualization and either enter a number or hit plus/minus. There are enough FSD users you’d quickly have an excellent scatter plot the fleet could use. Especially in more populated areas where it matters much more.
The user base is fairly devoted, how many of you are shouting into the void and leaving voice messages daily with FSD disengagements? I’m willing to bet a lot.

I have a similar problem. It's taking every speed limit sign as THE sign.

Pass a normal speed limit sign : Set
Pass another immediately specific for trucks a little slower : Set again.
Then it will pass a Minimum speed limit and set again. Sometimes these are 25 mph creating a dangerous situation on the highway when in FSD.

Anyone else seeing this?

I have seen the 100MPH multiple times on E-470 as well. It didn't use to do that. It usually completely ignores the speed limit signs and seems to use map data instead. It would be nice to have insight into what it's doing sometimes.

Yes, southbound I-15 approaching Cajon Pass my CT set the correct 70 speed limit, then it set the speed to 45 (the truck speed limit) and then a mile down the pass it set the speed limit to 100. When most are going 75 and the CT set the speed to 45, was dangerous.

My model S used GPS data for speed limits, it was obvious because it would know the speed as soon as it turned onto a road. But my cyber truck is reading the signs, because it changes as soon as it passes them. It can (sometimes) read construction signs to, and GPS data doesn’t have that, My model S would just speed through.

I noticed that as well. It seems that the latest update to FSD, either 14.2 or 14.2.1, added this 'feature'.

Had multiple incidences of FSD reading the TRUCK speed limit as THE speed limit. Embarrassing pulling out aggressively sort of in front of someone in madmax mode only to then crest the next hill and slow down like gramps.

With Tesla going ALL IN on camera only vehicle autonomy it concerns me when I drive by a sign that says 45MPH clear as day and the truck continues to barrel along at 60 (in chill mode)
