Tips and Settings for Battery Saving while Camping?

I've been pouring over the forums this morning for about an hour trying to see if there has been a post about the best way to conserve energy while camping (and not using the truck). My family and I have a trip coming up in the next couple weeks that is going to be a bit far from any charging locations or utilities in general. We plan on just tent camping, maybe using the bed plugs just to heat our water heater, but that's really about it.

I was wondering if people had any specific settings they used to minimize idle battery drain while disconnected for a few days out in the forest. It looks like it'll mostly be between 40-60F while we're there, and we're there for several days. I won't have Sentry on or anything, but it'd be nice to not wake up and see massive phantom drains that makes me leave to go charge it up.

Also, if there's already a thread here that someone knows about, please let me know and I'll check that out!

One of the things I do when camping with the truck is make sure all devices that are setup as a key have the Tesla app closed. Good idea to have any devices that have the app just leave the app closed. It will help the truck stay asleep. Also like you said, keep Sentry off.

The best way to conserve energy is to just leave the vehicle alone. Don't open a door, don't check it on the phone, and don't get near it so that it allows you to unlock it.

Now from that, you just need to be cognizant of how much charge you have at your destination and how much you will need to get back to a location that you can charge.

If you are going to keep opening the doors, turn the AC off, as it comes on when you open a door. You'll need to turn the AC plugs on to use them. If you aren't going to use them then turn them back off.

And by no means leave Sentry Mode on.

Turning off sentry mode and cabin overheat protection are at the top of my checklist for significant impacts (10%/day). It's not fun realizing the next day or two you forgot one of those...

I haven't noticed any real impact using a small electric cooler, lights, etc.

I used my truck a few times camping and lost about 10% a day and that was because of battery maintenance. Temps dipped to 39. Couldn't prevent it, can't prevent it....battery loss in cold temps is real. yes, I had all items above listed Off each time camping. I brought with me a 2k Honda generator just in case I couldn't make it out of the 80 mile trip to charger.

Battery loss in cold temps isn't real. If the vehicle is at 72 degrees and then goes to 0 degrees and then back to 72 degrees, it will have the exact same capacity as it did to begin with.

Now, if it goes to 0 degrees and you start to use the battery, it will definitely have less capacity.

If you leave in the early AM with temps in the 30s, it will have less than if you wait a few hours and leave in the 60s.

And the vehicle does not lose 10% a day for battery maintenance. I think I recently saw someone that left their truck alone for nearly a month and it only lost a few percent.

Yes, there was a recent post about a long term parking.

And at 0 degrees, that's why you condition the battery so that it's at operating temperature and you don't get the loss.
