No FSD because of the cabin camera. Just went out for some reason. Tried restarting already. I already miss FSD. Not looking forward to waiting couple of weeks before the repair.

Has anyone disassembled the truck to add electrical accessories or remove the center camera binnacle to clean the glass behind the covers and the lenses? Don't get me wrong, cleaning the cameras is a good idea because FSD is only as good as the lenses are clean, but it does require caution to not damage the camera wiring/connectors.

My cabin camera had to be replaced. I noticed before it completely failed that it was getting hotter and hotter. SC replaced it fairly quickly.

When I performed the cleaning, I declined to disconnect the harnesses as directed in the service procedure. Presumably, Tesla employees follow it to the letter.

It’s possible the connections are loose. You could check to verify they are intact:

Took my best in to get the glass cleaned for the center camera - a few days later - getting sporadic issues with the FSD button on the screen disappearing. Took it back and service fixed it in five minutes/ said the cabling was not connected fully.

A week later FSD gone, left driving camera gone, lane change warning red lights gone, warnings that emergency braking was malfunctioning. Emergency flashers came on going down the freeway- had to use the overhead button to stop the flashing, the “radar” screen showing surrounding vehicles gone off the screen.

Luckily I had made an appointment with service - my new trick- make an appt because my Tesla center had a three week lead time to get an appt/ - just keep an appt out in time just in case! - took the truck in thinking this time the issue must be more than just a loose connector in the windshield camera - for all these symptoms —

They installed a new front camera and this fixed all these issues!!! Amazing.and all because the tech broke the connector while just cleaning the glass!

Tesla needs to move that camera to the top of the roof so it can be easily cleaned - add a squirter like on the front bumper camera.

What is Tesla going to charge to clean this glass area in the future?

I am going to put 3/4” piece of electrical black tape around that black housing to keep dust and contaminates under that housing and degrading the view forward.
So what is Tesla going to charge for stuff like cleaning the glass for this camera after the warranty?

Does Tesla offer extended service contracts for their other models? Are there independent service contracts for Tesla vehicles?

Lots of little picky stuff to repair now and then it seems.

Remembering how to drive after using FSD extensively is a real thing. I've experienced it myself. In my opinion current version of FSD is better than most humans.

You should not do this. The forward-facing bi-cam includes a little PC fan, presumably for cooling.

Attempting to seal off the area will be pointless at best. At worst it could damage the camera or other components.

I concur that the cleaning procedure is way more difficult than it should be. Fortunately, it should be required less frequently over time as the "new car smell" outgassing abates.

The other day, the truck was drifting rightward into the parked cars and I thought "hey, someone should do something about that... oh shit, that's me" lol

The whole interior should just be lit red when FSD is off hahahahaha

Due to my concern that after driving using FSD extensively, I might not be as good of a driver, I bought a driving simulator racing set up. Those have sure come a long way as a tech (and the price). I told my wife its for my cognitive health. I'm only partially joking. Your idea of changing the interior color or something meaningful is not a bad idea. Especially when we reach press FSD and take a nap.
