Probably out of luck. Even after getting a "FSD transfer is complete" and then selling the old car, Tesla said "No, it wasn't REALLY complete. Now, no FSD for you."

Point of grammar, and this sucks - If you have til the 7th to use credits, it means when the 7th starts, time is up. "Thru the 7th" or "Through the 7th" means you would have also had the whole day of the 7th.

There was no advantage to waiting until you thought you had 3 hours left to make this decision. I hope it works out for you even though it hasn't for me... 2 years later and no FSD on the Model Y... Sad day.
I get it with the 7th stuff. It’s just lacks clarity. Again, I own waiting too long. But it’s just cold.

Try convincing your wife to trade in her 2020 for a 2023 MY because her FSD will transfer, being told by Tesla it transferred, having delivery delayed a day during which the 2020 was sold, and then have Tesla say "Nah, we meant it was ready to be transferred, not that it was transferred and since you no longer own the 2020, you are out of luck."

Bye, Bye, $7,000... (and FSD. My wife is still pissed at Tesla over this and refused to let me buy it again. "Why? So they can screw us over again?" )

sigh...

It sucks.. unfortunately I can’t imagine driving anything else… I love our Y&CT and FSD… the cars are incredible and won’t say a bad thing.. the business practices though? Robotic and cold (their answer was the computer system did it and they can’t do anything about it). Gives insight into the “future” Tesla/Elon want. An automated/ AI future that lacks empathy, grace, nuance or personal connection.

like, I won’t ever again extol Tesla as a company… this is too sour of a taste… i couldn’t even bring myself to tell my coworkers when they asked that it was Tesla that screwed me a couple thousand dollars…. Becasue I believe in the vehicles so much I want others to get them… but their business practices and customer service are on the opposite end of integrity

But you clearly screwed yourself out of the money. You had a year and you procrastinated and missed the deadline. That's on you.

"Again, I own waiting too long."

That's not owning your mistake, that's blaming someone else for your carelessness. You previously said that you own it...but you clearly don't. If you own it, you'll say "Yup, I goofed. Not sure why I waited more than a year to redeem my credit and my failure to plan cost me some merch."

Does it suck? Absolutely and unequivocally. Full stop. Period.

But how hard was it to set a calendar reminder for a week (or month) before the expiration? Let me guess, you also prefer to pay your taxes on April 16th without filing an extension, show up late for movies and wonder why they started without you and get upset when restaurants give away your reservation when you show up late? No one is out to get you, time is time - same for everyone.

I never said I don’t own it. Geez. I came to this community for a solution. The reality is I paid them money, they set a date. I didn’t pull the trigger early enough. Their time was ambiguous imho… they already have my $2500.. they lose no money on it.. but thanks for your tough love.

I do own it. They set a rule. I had plenty of time to do what I needed to do. I waited till the the day of expiration. I thought meant end of day (or that it was a gray area as they stipulated no actual time). But I was wrong. I did it to myself.
you are right, I am kicking myself for not putting it in the calendar, I was gonna use it for something last week, my family changed gears, life got crazy. I am a firefighter and had some traumatic calls that occupied time and mind space. It is completely on me
I signed the papers.
But can at least say its poor form that I can pay them $2500 and they can say, “ya we couldn’t provide the thing you wanted, but here is a credit. But if you don’t use it in a time we want (lots of out of stock stuff), we will just assume that money is ours.”?
I came here and I was looking for ideas, work arounds or hailmarys for my mistake.

“tough shit” is what I deserved from Tesla and this forum.

That $2,500 was for the foundation series package. You didn't pay $2,500 for a voucher, it was included as a promo for them to artificially raise the price.

You are saying you didn't own it. You are saying Tesla is shady and you don't know if you can recommend them. You made the mistake. You had a lottery ticket that had a "turn in by X date" and you missed it and you expect it to still be paid.

That's on you.

This is you not owning it.

I don't even know where you get the "we couldn't provide the thing you wanted" the credit was an option for you to either buy the powershare (which many did) or spend it on something else if you couldn't/didn't want the powershare.

Again, you messed up. Every single thing available was in stock at some point in the last year.

edit: Who cares about what you had going on last week or your job, this wasn't a 1 week offer. It was an entire year.

Thank you for stepping intot he fray when others are running away. Your service is sincerely appreciated.

It sucks, yup. But it didn't have to come down to the last minute. A year is a long time.

I proposed a path for you earlier in the thread, read your purchase agreement and contact the dispute resolution team.

I had an issue with my one-time-use voucher in that I had applied it to order Powershare equipment per the original intent of the credit. At the time, you needed to order the equipment first before any selected installers who receive the inquiry, at least around here, will even take a look and create a quote. Well, the quote was $6,600 for just hooking it up - no new panel needed, no charger included - just the install. I said F that and cancelled the equipment order. Did I mention it was the old 'one time use' voucher? Yup, Tesla kept the equipment and nullified the voucher even though it ended up being redeemed for nothing.

I did contact Tesla via the email address in my purchase agreement and they agreed to make an exception and issued a new one-time-use code. When other folks had their codes converted to shop credit and could apply it partially for Supercharging and other things I had no such option. Did I set a calendar reminder a week before expiration (and three days before expiration)? Your damn right I did, I wasn't going to let go of my $2,500 credit so easily. I did place my order a day before expiration, got my stuff and that was that. Did I probably wait too long? Yes. Because if I had forgotten or gotten busy or something happened then I would have lost it.

I genuinely feel for you, and offered a possible path. Others have also suggested paths. Credits, coupons, certificates, etc. all have expiration dates. I can't tell you how much money I lost on NYC metrocards because they "expired". WTF, it's a piece of plastic with a mag stripe, not a gallon of milk.

I hope you find the resolution you're seeking.

Thank you. I kick myself. It’s not something I will fight. This is a take my medicine. It sucks. Learn from it.. not gonna get some tires. There a lot worse things in life than losing some money because my own failure. Like having a stroke or going into cardiac arrest. Both of which were two calls I was on last night in the midst of trying to solve this.. not a great day in some respects for me in my financial life, but we got the guy breathing and pulses and the women got to the cath lab in time to resolve the stroke. Again perspective

There is always a way... Folks will want to put you down here, just keep trying. Look at the Tesla ECHO link. Try to find regional manager, etc. Good luck.

I don't think it's a fight you can win, you can certainly try. You saved 2 lives and lost out on some merch. In the grand scheme, that's a winning day. A bunch of people get to spend more time with a loved one because of you. You also took all the shit this thread threw at you in stride - kudos on that one as well.

Thanks. Ya I had to vent in the heat of the moment and sounded kinda petulant. Still hurts, but it is merch, not a life… or my mortgage thank God! Haha

the thing that won’t change is that my Cybertruck (which I was able to save for/afford.. so no shed tears lol) is the best rig I have ever driven. Safe, FSd, ride everything…. I bought it almost as therapy after going though covid at the firehouse in Portland and seeing all the crap we did (protests, homeless, over 30 people in my area shot and killed that I worked)… sort CT like my therapy dog. As frustration as Tesla customer service was in this instance.. it’s still the best rig and a company making the best/safest cars in the world.

im finding yall are like my own therapist letting me talk it out. Haha. Thanks!
