As someone who owns both a CyberTruck FS and a Toyota Prius Prime with ADAS, I can say for certain that the Toyota is YEARS behind Tesla when it comes to FSD. All the Toyota can do is adaptive cruise control with lane assist. That is not FSD. Not even close. It won't stop at stop signs, make turns, or do navigation of any kind on its own. It constantly nags whenever I grab the steering wheel at the 12 o'clock position because it blocks the eye sensor which is poorly positioned in my opinion.

The Toyota lane assist gets very undecided when an extra turning lane appears causing it to dither about which lane it should take. It's actually quite frightening. So it isn't superior at maintaining lane control.

EctoSlymer seems to think that the CT doesn't use the driver's eyes as its primary means to detect driver inattentiveness, but that is exactly what it does to see if you're paying attention. Tesla no longer continually feels for the driver's hands on the wheel like it did in the early days of FSD.
If you look away long enough, it will flash the display blue to get you to look ahead and may ask you to tug on the steering wheel, but that won't happen if you look straight ahead and don't get distracted looking elsewhere for too long. The inattentiveness interval has been getting longer lately. The initial FSD software would nag very quickly when you looked away, but now the interval is much longer.
Agree. That's why I don't understand the complaints of being too naggy.

What you just described, is specifically what Toyota’s system does not do. It does not ask you to tug on the steering wheel, if it is satisfied with your eyes watching the road. Hence, less naggy. As Elon himself is stating is coming. With Toyota, that’s already been here for years. That’s my whole and only point and people are truly in denile. You must think Elon is lying when he’s saying he’s about to make it “far less naggy”?!?! What exactly are you trying to suggest when you say it’s not currently naggy? Yes. It. Is.
And I am well aware it primarily watches eyes. But if you have a drink in your hand, you’re prone to being asked to touch the wheel. That’s hella annoying and hopefully what Elon is about to address. If not, it will CONTINUE to be more naggy. See how that works?

What I believe Elon is referring to is the nagging FSD does when you have something in your hands or you are not looking at the road. If you are saying that Toyota is better than Tesla at that in certain cases on certain roads, well then okay, great? Tesla will make it better via an update.
To even discuss that, IMO, is missing the forest for the trees...

Hey all I’m saying is there are people acting like there is no room or need for improvement because they don’t even know what other people are talking about any other system possibly being better than Tesla’s, and all I’ve chimed in to make clear is that yeah, the lack of nag that Elon is surely talking about rolling out, is akin to the lack of of nag that has been present for the past several years on Toyota’s system, while driving on highways. Another way of putting it is, why doesn’t the non-naggy autopilot just add lane change already!? Oh yeah and work at all on CT’s. Oh that’s right it’s because Tesla is trying to milk an extra $8k for a system that instead proceeds to nag you much more on highways than the autopilot does on highways, and also more than the Toyota system does on highways, which also has the ability to change lanes. And granted you definitely pay a premium for Toyota’s system too. But the point is offer highway driving with less nags!! And it’s just silly to see people suggest there is no need for less nags. What’s the whole point of getting to unsupervised FSD if that were true? Toyota is closer to the incremental step of unsupervised highway driving than Tesla is because right now all you have to do is pay attention and it doesn’t matter if you have a drink in your hands, and this has been the case for several years. And meanwhile Tesla will ask you to touch the wheel every so often in addition to watching the road. Even with no drink in your hands.

I just want FSD to stay in the lane. Especially highway left lane, really puzzling why this is so bad now. If there's a k-wall close, I don't use it anymore, it's terrifying to drive a couple inches away. Otherwise during long trips, rolling over the reflectors and kicking up dust on the shoulder is still annoying.

This is the part of what you are saying that is just not true for me in my Cybertruck. " And meanwhile Tesla will ask you to touch the wheel every so often in addition to watching the road. Even with no drink in your hands. "

The only time my truck asks me to touch the wheel is when the attention monitoring is disabled, and that happens when I'm wearing sunglasses and not looking at the road, when I pick up my phone, or when it thinks I have picked up my phone. That's it. That's all.

If you’ve driven a recent model year Toyota that has specifically Advanced Drive, you’d know damn well it’s far less naggy because the eye monitoring is simply less “intrusive”. And that’s surely what Elon intends to address. If not, I will continue to lament not having autopilot as an alternative on highways rather than FSD. Have you not driven a Tesla with autopilot before?? It is unarguably less naggy. THAT’S what everyone including Elon is surely speaking to when they refer to the nagginess of FSD. This is self-evident, everyone. It’s not a legitimate thing to debate. Y’all might as well be engaged in your virtue signaling in a heated argument with Elon himself. You look so silly to be self-righteously declaring that there’s no need for less nag. Go argue with Elon! “What are you even talking about Elon?!? I drove 3200 miles in FSD. Please promise you won’t make the technology better so we actually get to unsupervised FSD. Pretty please???”

That’s what these people proudly virtue signaling sound like to me. Admit it needs improvement and be glad that improvement is coming!! Jimminy Cricket!!

They are just butthurt because Tesla designed the system so well that it definitely sees them trying to use their cell phone. I would wager 90% of people who complain about the attention monitoring system are actually not paying attention.

I'd be willing to bet a years salary on it.

So what ever on earth is it that Elon is talking about making “far less naggy”?? You are a contrarian.

Toyota’s self-drive system is already far less naggy than Tesla and has been for years. Fanboi much?
Toyota's self-drive system? LOL! It doesn't compare favorably to Autopilot, let alone FSD!

Tesla can never appease the Tesla haters, no matter which road they take, when Autopilot only used steering wheel pressure to determine driver alertness, the haters railed that it could be gamed, that people could use their phones and weren't paying close enough attention, they said thousands of people would die, and Tesla was being irresponsible and uncaring.

Now that Tesla has incorporated a cabin camera to make sure your eyes are actually on the road, the haters say the system forces you to pay too close of attention, that it will nag you to death when you look away for more than a few seconds. They cry foul either way.

People who are paying attention to the development of FSD notice that Tesla is doing it in a way to maximize public and regulator acceptance, so it can begin saving lives as soon as humanly possible. The peanut gallery ends up looking foolish throwing peanut shells at the company leading the transition, not only to sustainable energy, but also to a safer, sooner, and more ubiquitous autonomous driving.

Elon knows how to make change happen quickly, not in three or four decades. It might not be pretty, but it's quick, safe and effective.

There is nothing contrary about it. The system is getting far safer, far faster than you realize. That allows the driver to pay less attention while still increasing overall safety relative to a human driver.

You have cognitive dissonance. You confuse who is criticizing what. And Elon himself says he’s about to make it much less naggy. So who has egg on their face but the people claiming that there is no bag to need to address?

I don't know thar anyone says FSD is perfect. It's not.

But the puahback you are getting is comparing it to a completely different product. That's it.

Until FSD is ready, I don't want to share the road with these yahoos who don't pay attention. Understanding the limitations of the system matters.
