Updated with recall notice:

OCTOBER 15, 2025 NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 25V699000

Front Parking Lights May Be Too Bright/FMVSS 108

Parking lights that are too bright can reduce visibility of oncoming drivers, increasing the risk of a crash.

NHTSA ID Number: 25V699000
Manufacturer Tesla, Inc.
Components EXTERIOR LIGHTING, ELECTRICAL SYSTEM
Potential Number of Units Affected: 63619

Summary
Tesla, Inc. (Tesla) is recalling certain 2024-2026 Cybertruck vehicles operating software prior to 2025.38.3. The vehicle controller software may cause the front parking lights to be too bright and exceed the maximum light output, adversely affecting the vision of other drivers. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 108, "Lamps, Reflective Devices, and Associated Equipment."

Remedy
Tesla released an over-the-air (OTA) software update, free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed December 13, 2025. Owners may contact Tesla customer service at 1-877-798-3752. Tesla's number for this recall is SB-25-00-008.

Tesla does not disclose production or sales numbers for Cybertrucks specifically. So the most interesting thing about the recall is that it reveals the total number of Cybertrucks that have been produced since the official introduction in late 2023:
Production Dates: Nov 13, 2023 - Oct 11, 2025

Number of potentially involved: 63,619
That 63,619 number would include CTs that have been produced but not yet sold, like those in inventory at Tesla stores or in transit.

That number is basically consistent with independent estimates, as per my post last week, which was based on data through September 30:
So there are probably around 60,000 CTs on North American roads today.

More like issued... It was fixed in 2025.38.3
Why would Tesla not include this in the release notes? Yes it is a “minor fix”, but since they must have known about the NTSH recall notice, it would (in my view) have been more pro-active to counter negative comments to have it listed. That way the fix would have been known to be already deployed before the official notice came out.

The fixed software went live to the public Oct 10. The problem was discovered Oct 1 and verified by Oct 6. So they fixed the potential issue before validating whether it violated the requirements and shipped the update 4 days before filing the recall paperwork on Oct 13th.

Tesla, which is run by billionaire Elon Musk, is issuing a free software update to correct the issue.
So many thing wrong in this statement, Elon does not actually run Tesla, and when has Tesla charged for a software update(which this implies), why does it matter what Elon is worth?
