Looking to purchase two used (approx 15k miles) original Foundation Goodyear tires in the SF Bay Area.

My Beast apparently wasn't properly factory aligned (this is a common problem with the original trucks) and despite several requests to have my tires rotated my service center never did that (I now have about 16k miles). As a result my two front tires are now bald on the inside and must be replaced before I can even get an alignment. My service center says they have been looking out of some since October but so far that hasn't panned out.

Ultimately I want to replace with Michelin Platinum tires all around, but I want to wear my other tires out first.

I got two you can have with 14,xxx miles for free if you wanna pay shipping from Pa. One problem…………… the foam is delaminated on them. Thats why I replaced with the Michelin’s also. Tesla basically told me to go to Goodyear for warranty issues and they were NO HELP. They said they would give me something like 42.00 credit for each tire if I were to replace them. The warranty is mostly null and void once you leave with your 100,000.00 truck. Laughable. A couple days later I drove back to the SC and had a conversation with the Service writer. I gave him a scenario………… I said Tesla put these tires on the truck and they didn’t perform as they should. You should replace them. He said its not their product, it’s Goodyears, you have to go to them. Then I asked him if he went across the street from the SC and bought a sandwich from the deli and he got back and sat down to eat it and he found out the roll was stale would you bring it back to the deli or would they make you got to the bakery who made the roll? No they would give you a new fucking sandwich on a good roll. He agreed and I asked him what the difference in my comparison. TESLA CHOSE THAT TIRE, TESLA PUT THE TIRE ON THE TRUCK AND TESLA SOLD ME THE TRUCK. Fix my tires. Yeah, that didn’t get me anywhere. Thanks Goodyear and Thanks Tesla for a set of shitty tires that lasted 14,000 miles.

Wow, I had no idea this existed.

TLDR - I am interested in getting them from you.

I'm on the phone now with Goodyear, but apparently the Permafoam in the Goodyear Wrangler R tires can be simply removed, the tire rebalanced and used through end of life. All I need are two used tires to get me through another 10-15k miles of wear so I can swap out four with Michelin's.

I'll get back to you shortly, and thanks much for your quick reply.

I don't think that foam does anything at all, I've talked to many "tire guys" about it. the consciences is: It's not nearly dense enough to make it work, no one has been able to tell if its installed in blind testing, and if it worked even a little bit, tire shops would try to upsell everyone on it.

OK, learned a LOT about these tires (Goodyear Wrangler Territory RT in size LT285/65R20 with Permafoam). First off Goodyear is aware of the delimitation issue and they ARE covered under warranty (replacement). The way to do this is call 1-800-321-2136 advise you are a customer and say you are calling about "Cybertruck OEM Wrangler Territory RT with SoundComfort foam issue.". They will then call a local Goodyear tire company (they have to make the call to ensure that they can and will do there warranty service inspection) for you (I stayed on the line until they located one) then Goodyear will provide you with a claim number (7 digits). All you need to do is then take the vehicle to the service center, give them the code and once they confirm the delamination they will replace with new Goodyear tires.

So Electric Metal if you want new tires you might want to do this.

For myself I don't dislike the Goodyears but I use only Michelin's on my other vehicles and I have been to their test facility in Clairmont-Ferrand, France and these folks are passionate about their tires - which IMHO are the best in the world.

Back to my issue i you provide me with your zip code I can check out shipping options for your two tires if you still want to provide them to me....thanks for the offer.

Wonder why Tesla and Goodyear added it? Cost savings?

My career as a geologist introduced me to the complexity of mining, Tires are a huge expense there and Goodyear was a world leader in developing their OTR (off the road) Permafoam system whereby the tires still used air inflation but could run with a semi-solid foam core with lower PSI. This is now the standard in the industry, but it has downsides in terms of weight, and heat buildup at higher speeds - but greatly extended tire life..

Decades later (now) Goodyear looked at the noise issues surrounding tires in passenger vehicles and developed their Soundcomfort Technology - an acoustic foam lining (a thin polyurethane foam layer glued to the inner liner) to reduce road/cabin noise. This is new tech and is what was used in the Cybertruck in 2024. It is this liner than can come loose.

An alternative to warranty replacement would be to simply have the tire shop remove the foam layer (cut or pull out), rebalance the tire and remount. The only downside to this is higher road noise. (note this info was from Grok AI).

Gimmick, or its detectible in tests with computer sensors, and they can use that to justify the extra cost.

Ugh this is not going to work, the cheapest shipping is UPS at $641 PER TIRE to ship (I also checked FedEx and a couple of freight companies, which would require pallets)

I very much appreciate your offer and I learned something I didn't know about the Goodyear Cybertruck tires - so there is that!

I'll continue to look around in the San Francisco area.

Check LTL Freight price. Central Transport in West Chester , Pa. Might take a week or so.

Just called them and they do have a better rate at under $400 for both tires - BUT that rate is for Will Call and tires on pallet. Which means that you would need to palletize and deliver them to their location and would need to pick them up at a nearby terminal in my area.

I think it would be easiest if I could find two used tires ideally in the San Francisco Bay Area. They really don't need to be great shape just good enough for me to get the alignment and wear out my rear tires.

Thanks again...

I make frequent trips there weekly. I can throw them on a pallet and wrap them up for you if you want me to. Its actually no big deal. Let me know.

I have two ready for you. When I got my Falkins the tire company said two Goodyear OEMs were still good and told me to hang on to them so I did.

If you are interested, I can send you pics of the sidewalls (for age and serial numbers) and tread depths.

The bad news is that I’m in Orange County but I’m sure we can figure out someone going North or South.

Why would they want to cost themself more money? Tesla, I mean. I can't see them buying Goodyear tires and paying for a part that served no purpose. The best part is no part.
