Greetings fellow CT owners! I picked up my new AWD CT 2 weeks ago and I have been loving it! We're taking my son to Legoland in Carlsbad, CA for his fall break. I'm planning on taking the I-10 out of Phoenix and charging in Quartzsite then Indio and then on to Carlsbad. I got our 3 bikes to fit in the bed after removing the front wheels. We may also head up to the Tesla Diner for dinner one night. Any advice of tips would be great as this is our first road trip in the CT.

Just did that trip. It’s awesome. Have a blast. If I may suggest some alternatives to your current charging plan, I’d top off earlier than you need in say Dateland or Tacna (tacna probably better) and then make a long haul to the supercharger in Alpine California. It’s a stretch but doable and it’s the only charger en route that’s a 325kw. You also roll into it it pretty empty so you will charge very fast there. It has a Starbucks and Macdonald for the kids.
If you’re looking for more entertainment for a long stop, el centro has two superchargers. One is by a mall which has a cool arcade and food court so really fun for the kids. Also a dollar store there which is kind of fun.
Definitely bring a j-1772 adapter and set up a ChargePoint account on your phone because LEGOLAND has free level 2 charging overnight and it’s very empty. Especially since only the castle hotel is now open, not the original.
Even if you don’t, there is a supercharger at an outlet mall right outside LEGOLAND with a few businesses like blaze pizza which is always popular with the kids.

We have done that same drive over a dozen times in our cybertruck. I pretty much just use the recommended stops from the Tesla navigation. Like Ace mentions above, we stop at Tacna quite a bit and the mall in El Centro. Try not to worry about getting there "as fast as you can", and just plan on shorter, more frequent stops to give everyone a break and stretch your legs. Enjoy!

Fair. Some stops are just a little better than others. Yuma sucks.

What’s your roadtrip supplies list?
Mobile charge kit, j1772 adapter, A2Z EV CCS adapter, maybe spare tire, inflator, first aid kit, gloves, jack, jack ground pads, torque wrench, 21mm socket, etc

I have a long road trip and want to hear from the group to be sure

J1772 , a phone and extra battery and in my case a Starlink mini.
I do have a tire patch kit , jack and inflator that live in the truck but I’m far more likely to call Tesla roadside.
Where you’re going, a fridge with lots of drinks and some extra water. Quality sunscreen. Hat. Long sleeve shirt that’s not warm. I always carry a little cash too but that’s just paranoia my parents instilled in me.

Plug kit from Amazon, inflator, and first aid kit - all live in the truck 24/7. Special for road trips? Water jug and a leash for my dog in case we get stranded. It is just a truck - a reliable one at that.

The most I ever spent on a Supercharger was in Goodyear AZ. $45.80. I could've gotten a room at a place with a free level 2 charger and applied that 45.80 to the room cost. Next time... We were on a similar trip from Show Low Arizona to Brea California. The overnight break would have been nice.

I’m badly wanting to make some comment about the free supercharging I worked so hard to get and what I actually think it’s worth.
I’ll just say I’m very glad I did it.

@Jodadj you have to take him through Oatman, AZ. It’s a small little town on Rt. 66 with wild donkeys everywhere. He’ll love it. Trust me. Then onto the Hollywood Diner. So good!

I’ve never been to Oatman. Enough by itself for a day trip from Phoenix? Any decent off-road trails near there?

I’d say it’s worthy of a day trip. But I’d drive a full day to get some Dateland ice cream. I was en route to the diner and went through Oatman, Needles, etc on the way out, and hit Dateland on the way back. I’d imagine there would be some good trails that way too, though I didn’t explore any.
