Here is my review of the CyberTruckCo Rock Sliders and some notes:
F
The sliders arrived on Tuesday of this week (finally?).
They were packed very well with plenty of foam / bubble wrap and a ton of tape.
Not a scratch on them!
I started the process of installation right away (and forgot to take pix of the wrapping ?).
I would recommend reviewing the installation video and add these notes .
First, after removing the old pieces and cleaning the floor of debris, I would lay out the sliders on each side and test fit the poly panels (also, count ALL hardware-I was short 8 small screws for the poly panels).
In my opinion, tesl fitting is important for a smooth fit. The issue I ran into was with the poly panel pushed up to line up the top screw holes, the welds hit the bevel on the panel making it very difficult to install the necessary short screws.
I solved this by marking the weld spots on the poly panel and removing material on the back side.
Once all the poly panels are test fit and labeled remove them and set aside with the small screws.
Prior to installing the rock slider I would enlarge the three holes in the square tube to 5/8”.
I ran into an issue with my truck on the initial test fit. All 5 of the 8mm screws would line up and easily screw in but the long 6mm screws would not.
After a lot of messing with, I determined that the original holes are too small to allow the 6mm screws to start straight and after enlarging all three to 5/8” then everything went fine.
The next thing I would recommend is to not put thread locker on the screws at this time.
Being paranoid after the first round, I installed all of the screws most of the way first and then removed one at a time to add BLUE thread locker.
Doing it this way, for me went smooth.
Finally, install the poly panels. If you trimmed the panels they go on easily while laying on your back ? and the panels will fit flush with the slider.
The last step is to cut the fender liner, tuck it in and install the fender flair.
This was my last hurdle.
The rear fender flairs fit perfectly.
The front, not so much.
I had to remove both of the front flairs and trim to allow them to fit back on.
Final thoughts.
First thing WIFE APPROVED! My wife is 5’2” and we use the entry mode for easy entry. These make her life even easier!
As far as fit and finish of the received parts, First Class!
Ease of installation, I feel like the second time around following what I did it went good.
One person installation is fine.
Having to trim the poly panels, they did bevel the panel to allow for the welding but trimming made all the difference (in my opinion).
I would buy these again without hesitation.
Having installed various aftermarket and factory add on accessories on various vehicles for my previous job, the minor issues were not a big deal. Even factory designed add on parts sometimes do not fit quite right without “massaging” them.
Thank you for reading!
