Hi All,
Brand new member here. Took delivery of my Cybertruck last week and have been absolutely in love with it.
Unfortunately, my front driver side tire popped while going through a car wash. I had gone through a few washes already over the days and didn't have an issue until this time.
What happened: Truck was going through while in neutral as usual. Towards the end, there was a point where it felt like the truck was stuck and then there was a pop. It turned out that for some reason, the front tire came off the track a little bit and a metal piece punctured the side wall.
Damage:
Flat tire
Some rim damage as well
Tesla roadside assistance was great. They sent a tow truck and gave me $50 uber credit to get home. They took it to the local service center and are trying to find a tire and wheel. I'm really hoping it's not going to take them forever to find the parts.
I'm expecting Quick Quack to give me a call within a day or so. We have the dashcam video and their video as well. They'll probably reimburse me for any cost of repairs.
If anyone has any insight as to how long the wait might be, that would be helpful. Also, I won't be going to this specific location anymore and will only go through ground up new build Quick Quacks, because they are built different according to the employee.
UPDATE 3/14/24: I spoke to the Quick Quack manager who showed me their video too. Turns out, a car in front of me broke the tire shine part which made it stick out into the track. They had it fixed when I went there and he watched me go through the wash with no issues. So basically, I just got unlucky going through after their tire shine part broke. He also said that all QQs have their own proprietary equipment so even if they acquire an old car wash, they update everything. As for repair cost, it came to roughly $1300 including taxes. We submitted the invoice to QQ and he's expecting I'll be reimbursed in 6-8weeks. Mystery solved. Truck is back on the road turning heads
