Hey, I’m new to this but need a off road electric bike that can handle mud, gravel, and maybe some “shortcut” trails that aren’t exactly official. Don’t want to spend a fortune, but it should be strong enough to get me out of tricky spots fast (like, say, dogs chasing).
Are fat tires and dual suspension really worth it, or just hype? Bonus if the bike doesn’t stand out too much.
Any suggestions?

I have a Super 73RX; if you download the app you can “unlock” level 3 and 4. At level 4 it goes 35 MPH on throttle only. Fat tires, dual suspension, and 4 piston brakes.

very subjective. going to need a $ range before I can make recommendations.

I have had an absolute blast learning to ride e-motos this past year. urban exploration & trail riding.

We use Nireeka E-Bikes. They're fast, cool-looking, not too expensive, and compliment the Cybertruck design quite nicely!

Not too bad at approximately 62 lbs each. Our Kuat Piston-Pro setup works perfectly with a pair of them.

Bad Idea
Really bad idea. I have had past tense 2 E bikes and it is just like boats. The happiest days with a boat is the day you buy one and the day you sell one.
Why?
Motor cycles are efficent people movers
Navi was $1,800 now $2,000 60-90 MPG
Grom or Monkey or better yet 125 dirt bike.
Now
They are gas but 90mpg and no dead Li Ion battery or worse replace $$$ Li Ion battery
Tests
Ride correction try to ride e bike with out power
Cost of a replacement battery
Cost of a replacement motor
Research
E bike vs Mini motorcycle.
We've had our E-Bikes for years. Mine for nearly 4 years, and my wife's for over 2 years. One of the best purchases we ever made. The batteries are still the original and can last years with proper care and charging. The replacements are not very expensive and easy to install with just a click into place.

E-Bikes also keep you in decent physical shape and allow you into terrain that you could never expect to go without. We use ours as regular bikes on the flat river trails, then kick in the power only when needed to be back home in a hurry or to traverse a big hill.

These are really cool but their online frame calculator tells me 're-check your measurements' - am I too tall? 6'5"

I'm 6'1". I bought the Large sized frame using a shorter seat post. There's plenty of adjustment left on the seat post for you at 6'5", so I think you'll be fine with the Large frame.
