Just got back from an unforgettable long weekend at Joshua Tree National Park with the Cybertruck! We had our complete overlanding setup dialed in, and I have to say, it made all the difference. Here’s a breakdown of the gear we used and how it performed:

The Setup
We went all out on this trip with a full overlanding kit:

  • Cybertruck with rooftop tent – Setup was a breeze, and the tent provided perfect shelter for the desert nights.
  • 270-degree awning with LED lights – The awning gave us plenty of shaded space during the day, and the integrated LED lights made evenings around the camp so much more convenient. Whether we were cooking or just hanging out, the lighting was spot on.
  • CyberTent Mode – This feature was a real game-changer. The Cybertruck’s suspension automatically adjusted to perfectly level the truck bed for the rooftop tent, making setup on uneven terrain hassle-free. We simply engaged CyberTent Mode, and the truck leveled itself out. It doesn’t get much easier than that.
The Rack Platform
Our rack platform is designed to perfectly align with the bed, so no matter where we set up, the tent stayed level. It’s a great solution for overlanding on uneven ground, ensuring a flat and comfortable base for the night.

Performance Highlights
The Cybertruck handled everything Joshua Tree threw at us, from rugged terrain to soft sand. The 270-degree awning with LED lights was a standout. It not only provided excellent coverage during the heat of the day but also illuminated our camp at night, which made cooking and relaxing under the stars even better.

The Experience
Joshua Tree is a magical place, and having the right gear made it even better. Waking up to the sunrise, brewing coffee under the awning, and enjoying the vast desert landscapes in comfort is something I’ll never forget. The Cybertruck’s overlanding capabilities, paired with the rooftop tent, awning, and CyberTent Mode, created the perfect setup for an epic adventure.

If you’re into overlanding or even just weekend camping trips, I highly recommend this setup. The Cybertruck’s combination of ruggedness and comfort makes it the ideal basecamp for outdoor adventures.

Would love to hear what others are doing with their setups—any favorite overlanding spots or tips for future trips?

I’ll be camping at Joshua Tree next week with my truck. I’ll be at Black Rock this time. Last time we did Jumbo Rocks. Where did you guys top off at before heading out? Did you do any off roading? If so, where at? How was it? Any more details? The post was pretty light on the specifics. Thanks!

Hey! We topped off at the Tesla Supercharger in Yucca Valley before heading to Black Rock too—it’s a great spot! We did some off-roading to Eureka Peak. It’s a pretty easy and fun trail, with amazing views, but it gets dusty! If you have anything in the bed, I’d recommend covering the gap between the tailgate and bed—we used paper towels later, and it worked, lol. We ended up washing the truck in Service Mode to deflate the rear suspension and clean out the bed.

When do you start accepting orders? it's been over 2 weeks since your initial expected launch date.

Hey! Apologies for the delay. We made some final revisions, which pushed things back a little. The good news is we’ll be accepting orders and start shipping next week! Thanks for your patience—we’re excited to get these out to you soon!

That's a clean setup and priced better than others that are smaller. What are the weight limitations?

That's great advice! Thanks! I didn't even think of that. We keep some linens in the back and sleeping on dust covered blankets and linens wouldn't be fun!

Thanks for the shoutout! ? Our goal is to enhance the Cybertruck outdoor experience with high-quality, affordable accessories that combine style and functionality. Tesla rates their 4-crossbar set at 440 lbs, and we adhere to that for safety.

Here’s a breakdown:
  • 440 lbs dynamic off-road load capacity
  • 600 lbs maximum on-road rating
  • 800 lbs static load rating
Our rack weighs in at 140 lbs. We've tested it with three people (170 lbs, 180 lbs, and 195 lbs) plus a 115 lb Yakima tent and a 35 lb Starlink with mount. Check out the photo to see it in action!
Hope this helps!

Check out these off-road pics from Hell's Revenge in Moab! We had about 500 lbs loaded up, including the rack, a hardshell rooftop tent, 2 awnings, a rugged case with tools, a 1.75-gallon Rotopax, Starlink, an Amazon light bar, and a traction board

Thanks! The added height above the high pillar point is about 3 inches, similar to the Tesla Prototype Rack.

I guess a better way I should have asked. What is the total height with the rooftop tent? The supercharger I use is in a parking garage with a height of 6’5”. Will I fit with this setup?
