I just purchased my Cybertruck and also ordered the Tesla Gateway so I can use the CT as a whole-home backup / generator.

The list price for the Gateway is available online. I haven’t installed it yet—I’m waiting for my electrician—but I’ve already gone through the planning and site walk.

Install cost will really depend on:
  • Your local labor rates
  • Distance from the Gateway to the main meter / panel
  • Whether anything needs to be relocated (meters, panels, conduits, etc.)
In my case, the Gateway will be installed right next to the main power meter, which is what Tesla recommends in their install manual. Because of that, I’m expecting install costs in the $1,500–$2,500 range, depending on whether we need to move any miscellaneous items.

Permit fees will also depend on your local jurisdiction. I’d expect a few hundred dollars in most areas.

Once I’m up and running, I’ll report back with real numbers—but for now it seems pretty straightforward and easy… LOL, famous last words.
