You know I make it a point to spot and appropriately deal with disingenuous people. Know how to spot them? Being overly literal to pretend not to understand. They work very hard to not understand you or pretend to not understand rather than working to understand. That tells you everything you need to know about their character.
Ohhh, the irony is think ... but I bet is lost on this one

Well, it’s been mentioned that the subscription prices will go up with new features. If you are running an older chip it should be grandfathered in and remain $99. Shouldn’t have to pay extra for features not available!

Take the manageably affordable and making it a rich premium…again. Way to go Tesla!

All the hand-wringing about monthly subscription fees and later than anticipated completion, on the cusp of actual autonomy becoming real, just reveals the mental state of many people doing the handwringing.

Autonomy is a HUGE deal and it's coming decades sooner than many "experts" predicted. Coupled with the fact that no one is doing it better or faster than Tesla, no one is "catching up" to Tesla, regardless of the timeline being longer than Elon projected, just highlights the negative space these people inhabit.

Autonomy is coming soon, and it's going to change the way our civilization functions in fundamental and irreversible ways. Any expert human driver can tell you that normal driving on public roads is nothing to put on a pedestal. It's nothing special and nothing to be proud of unless you are 17 years old or just learned to drive competently.

Maybe I'm missing something, but if FSD is subscription-only, wouldn't that make operation of a Cybercab completely subscription-dependent?

The plan (as I understand it) is that the Cybercab will have no steering wheels or pedals. The only way to operate it is by using FSD. So does a Cybercab become immobile if you miss the monthly FSD payment?

Maybe Cybercabs will only be available for lease, and the lease payment will include the FSD subscription. If you miss your lease payment, the vehicle could become inoperable -- but that's no worse than a conventional auto lease, where a missed payment could mean that your vehicle gets repossessed.
Cybercabs are not intended to be a consumer product. Tesla will own them all. The idea is that MY and M3 owners can put their cars in the fleet too. However, there is the big legal question of insurance and liability, which is the same for unsupervised FSD - who is responsible for insuring risk when Tesla is effectively doing all of the driving? Right now, WAYMO, Tesla, etc., retain all liability for the current robotaxis running around city streets in CA, AR, TX. This will be a hurdle that may get addressed, but for now, we need to see unsupervised first.

Isn't it wild to think about how we were able to go to the moon almost 57 years ago and are just now solving autonomous driving? (With cameras only)

Oh so purchasing FSD now for $8K would be ill advised if it doesn't include unsupervised. I'll stick with subscription.

It's sounding more and more like all of the FSDs purchased were only for supervised FSD not unsupervised FSD. If true, there will be some mad people. I never looked into so I don't know the details but I assume there's alot of people who assumed they would get unsupervised FSD when available.

I wonder if luxe will still include FSD. Either they'll use it as a sales tactic to go with luxe or take it out and lower the price.
I wonder when we'll know what's happening with the "luxe" package.
Good questions. The Luxe Package, which is a standard feature on Model S, Model X, and the Cyberbeast, currently includes FSD purchase. So what happens if FSD is subscription-only? As previously suggested, two obvious options are:

(1) No change -- if you buy a Luxe Package vehicle, you get to own FSD, everybody else subscribes. Price of Luxe Package stays the same.

(2) Luxe Package no longer includes FSD purchase. Price drops accordingly.

But maybe there could be a third option:

(3) Luxe Package no longer includes FSD purchase -- but it does include seven years (or something) of FSD subscription fees. Price of Luxe Package stays the same. So you don't actually "own" FSD, you are technically a "subscriber" -- but you are free of annoying monthly subscription fees for a good long time.

I bet FSD purchasers will get unsupervised for a heavily discounted subscription fee.

existing Teslas are NoT capable of UFSD, as they need self cleaning devices for all cameras in order for you to take a nap while it is safely hauling your a$$ thru blizzard snowstorms to your in-laws for mac’n’cheese dinner.
Cybercab will be the first iteration capable of Unsupervised.
