First Dry Cathode Battery Process Cybertruck Spotted at GFTX!

Probably a few months away from full production and run through the existing supply. Just a guess though.

They're doing validation first.

The cathode material is usually applied in a wet mixture. It has to be baked at high temperatures and worked with chemicals to ensure it adheres to the support structure. A dry cathode is more or less just printed onto the support structure in a manner like toner from a laser printer. It doesn't require the long baking cycle or chemical treatment. It makes it much less expensive for Tesla to produce. As a side benefit, there is some thinking that the process will result in a thinner, more consistent layer enabling more power per kilogram of weight which could mean higher capacity batteries/longer range.

And alot alot less water, which is a sticking point at their current factory sites.

So... the dry cathode won't rust? ?

Sure, but everyone in the Sonic parking lot will tell us it in fact does

Sorry but how do we even know it’s a dry cathode cyber truck? Looks just like a regular cyber truck with a wrap. ?

[Mini2nut]

The Cybertruck might see the newly developed dry cathode 4680 battery packs in Q4.

Clarification:
The cathode wet process uses a solvent which is reclaimed and recycled.

The new cathode electrode material generation process uses less water (zero net) due to skipping the nickel sulfate step, but that is independent from applying it to the metal foil.

So... the dry cathode won't rust? ?

That's where the weight savings comes in. You don't carry around extra rust!

Imagine dealing with a 'Back_ Clag'

Because the person saying it is, works for Tesla.

Well that explains that! good to know for those that are not so involved with the topic. Thanks. ?
