I’m planning a trip to New Mexico through Roswell, which is at least 100 miles away from the nearest Supercharger. For that trip, it’s CCS or bust.

I’ve plotted routes that use Superchargers only, but it’s a significant detour, and still leaves little margin for error without access to 3rd-party charging.
Good to know. Im also planning a trip going through Roswell.

Tesla also has a CCS2 to NACS adapter, but it isn't available in the US Tesla Shop, presumably because CCS2 is not used here.

Tesla is now delivering Cybertrucks to the Middle East, where CCS2 is used instead of NACS. But they didn't change the charge port -- instead, all Middle East CTs are shipping with the CCS2 adapter. Image below is from the UAE Cybertruck order page:

Tesla Cybertruck CCS1 to NACS Adapter for Cybertruck now available in Tesla Shop uae ct

That’s so weird. The link opens the app for me but doesn’t show the product and when I go to the menu under adapters it shows the j1772 adapter and mobile connector attachments but not that. I can Ven find it in a Google search but when I sign in with a Tesla account it opens my phone app and does not show it. I have a CT and model x in my account.
For this item, unlike most items in the Tesla Shop, there are some unusual purchase provisions. First, you have to show that you own a Tesla vehicle, and second, you have to document the exact kind of Tesla vehicle, because different retrofits are required for S/X and 3/Y, so the price varies.

If you log out of the Tesla Shop and then search for the Adapter, it should come up right away as follows:
In order to be eligible to purchase this product, you must be a Tesla vehicle owner. Sign in to your Tesla account to which your vehicle is registered to verify your ownership status. ....

CCS1 to NACS Adapter: $200
CCS1 to NACS Adapter Model S/X Retrofit with Adapter: $280
CCS1 to NACS Adapter Model 3/Y Retrofit with Adapter: $230
In your case, the Shop could maybe be confused because you have both a CT and a Model X. It might be trying to show you only the right option, but it can't make that work because there are two different options that could be correct.

It might work better if the Shop listed these as three completely different items -- for Cybertruck, S/X, and 3/Y -- rather than as one item with three options.

I literally bought this last night at 2am. Haha. Good news is that it’s the latest technology and it’s also 1000V 500A.

There should be a 15% discount coupon on the page as well, for those interested. We have a 500kw charger about 30 minutes from us so I’ll test it as soon as it arrives.

So what’s the retrofit part? Our x is 2024 with HW4

No idea. But apparently the Service Center has to do something to the S/X so that it can work with the CCS1 adapter. Somehow it adds $80 to the cost of the adapter (or only $30 for a 3/Y):
Sign in to the Tesla app to check your vehicle's compatibility and schedule a Service retrofit if needed.

If a retrofit is required, the service visit will include installation at your preferred Tesla Service Center and one CCS1 to NACS Adapter.
Tesla has posted an Owner's Manual for the CCS1 to NACS Adapter, but it doesn't provide much interesting info. It does not describe the retrofits that are apparently needed for S/X and 3/Y.

I’m definitely not smart enough to say that but I do have enough brain cells to understand that 500A is a good thing, given the use of 325kw chargers. Haha. Hopefully, someone with more of a technical background can chime in. Yes, half the cost is a good thing and theoretically, it’s light years ahead! 😂😂

Crazy that it took that long.

Looks like maybe they updated the design for all of them and the Cybertruck is now the default? 250 max kinda sucks, but no biggie.

Thats pretty cool.

but if you're at a Tesla charger there's obviously no problem. This is an adapter for when you're at a 3rd party CCS only charger.
