Do these covers for under $60 look the same to you guys as those often sold by our dear sponsor friends for 2-3 hundred dollars and often gifted with large purchases like fridges and running boards and such?

Probably another one of those products that’s made by the same manufacturer but drastically different prices based on who you order from.

Whoa. Wait. they just install over the calipers? I would have gotten them like, a year ago. but i saw the stainless tubing and bleed valve, and thought you had to remove them and install the covers and reinstall them, then bleed the entire system. didn't want to touch that. this add says the tubing is decorative! Shit! now i need to get them! Red, Brembo!

The key indicator is that diamond shaped symbol; I bought them from a vendor when they first came out at double the price. These are pretty well made; There is another manufacturer, but they are substandard to the ones you depict. On mine I place the Cybertruck sticker and subsequently clear coated them so they would not peel.

Well I bought this reflective caliper wrap and was going to put it on the calipers with some Cybertruck logo decals I bought but when I was browsing I found these for $60 and thought, wouldn’t it be better to make that removable and be able to do the wrap job nicely on my kitchen table rather than on the car in the Arizona sun.

@TeslaKen has a whole thing out there about adding a set screw to these but it seems a little involved with drilling and so forth. necessary you guys think?

TeslaKen placed the screws inasmuch as his vibrated. Mine don’t; if they did I would place a thin washer on the caliper side (screw attachment point) of the install. The wrap is a good idea if the material can take the heat displaced from the calipers.
edit: I see it’s rated to 450 degrees

I would say that at some point with the attachment method that comes with these things that you are going to develop a rattle, whether that is tomorrow or next year, who knows, but I developed 2 and was tired of dealing with it so I went to town on solving the problem. There may well be other solutions. Just keep an eye and ear on it and deal with it when you need to.

Of course the tubing and bleed valve are decorative. The whole thing is decorative (and therefore pointless, IMO). Might as well install some plastic scoops and a diffuser while you're at it. ;)

I really just want them so it’s less of a pain the ass to get the reflective wrap on there.
Maybe I should just cut the crap and powder coat them like I want to. I’m just not thrilled about letting some Neanderthal disassemble my brake system and remove all the seals.
Could also just put the wrap directly on the calipers. What do you guys think is the best approach?

Do you think using some blue loctite in there would prevent that if it’s something that develops over time?

Locktight is for screws, these are held on by brackets that clip over the caliper, it is those brackets that come loose, not the screws that go into the brackets. I don't know if smearing locktite on the bracket before attaching the bracket would help or not.

I see. I like the set screw solution I’m just not sure I have the skillset for drilling and tapping/chasing and all that.

I also bought them when they first came out. I think I paid $300. I had them installed when I had my tires rotated, but they would be very easy to do yourself as they are just a cover and the stainless steel tubing in that is just part of the cover. They’re very well-made However, the back calipers the backing block that they screw into can come loose. I lost mine because it came loose and you cannot purchase the part separately so this set for 60 bucks looks the same. I think I’ll buy them just to get the little piece that I lost. They do really make the truck look good. Clearcoat is essential when you’re done.

If you replace try placing an O ring (green used on AC applications) between the screw and backing plate. You can buy the O rings at harbor freight. Your installer probably did not turn the screw(s)tight enough.
