(You can skip this part if you want. Its just a sorta funny story of the importance of CarPlay to me) I have had my beast for for almost 2 & 1/2 months and I love everything about it EXCEPT I cannot stand the barebones phone connectivity options (or lack there of). I actually got a ticket (first in 20 years) b/c I used voice commands to try to call my soon to be ex-wife but at the same time I got a text from a coworker and it texted my coworker to call my exish-wife who works for the same company causing all sorts of confusion... While fiddling with the screen trying to cancel the text the speed limit changed from 55 to 45 causing me to get radared going 60 right after the transition... Because of this I end up having to grab my phone and manually text or look up someone to call which which is obviously dangerous and a different form of illegal. ? P.S. I drive like a grandpa and use cruise control as much as possible which I was doing. I wish the CC would automatically change your speed when you passed a speed limit sign. I also wish the CC in the CT wouldn't slam on the breaks for no apparent reason.... I hope this gets fixed whenever FSD is released.

You can start here...
Is anyone using one of these options (or other) in their CT or other Tesla models? If so how good is it and is it worth it? I believe it requires you to have the ability to use your phone as a Wi-Fi hotspot which is fine except my phone plan doesn't have that ability (grandfathered into a legacy plan). So I will have to swap plans possibly making my rate increase which is fine if this works as claimed.

I would love y'alls feedback because I'm ready to pull the trigger on sapping plans and buying whichever device is recommended by our community. I know they make little screens that give you this option and probably don't require tethering but I don't want an additional screen. I don't want to clutter up my truck and I want everything on the gorgeous 18.5" screen right next to me.

Thank y'all and below are the links to the two devices I'm referencing.

I have the dylnk one. Kind of temperamental when connecting but normally works well once connected. The CT doesn’t always reconnect to WiFi which is the main issue. It will also disable some connectivity like voice commands when you’re connected. Otherwise it’s pretty darn good.

You don’t need a phone hotspot for it

Awesome thank you for your reply! I actually bit the bullet and ordered it on Friday and now I'm happy that I did.
