Fascia Camera question

After one of the latest updates, I was constantly hearing the windshield washer pump activate for about 1 seconds on vehicle start up. At first I thought it was just refilling the line for the wiper blade but 2 days ago I opened the fascia camera view immediately on getting in and saw it washing the fascia camera. Does anyone else notice this and does this mean fsd or the parking assist is now using the fascia camera? I don't remember see anything in the patch notes talking about this behavior. Maybe I missed it?

Yes. This is something new since v14.2 not sure if it directly correlates to fsd using the fascia camera per se. i did see a YouTube video where someone with a pre facia camera Y and one with the fascia camera tested the theory of fsd using the front camera by placing a low box in front of the two, and the one without the camera ran over the box whereas the other one didnt, so its doing it at least on the Y but not sure about CT

It may also be similar to the dry wipe glitch. Detect any camera interference-> spray to clean. It also raises the question of Tesla foresight. If they knew fascia camera would be used in fsd and needed to be cleaned, why not also include a cleaning solution for the tailgate camera, which also is used for fsd and gets dirty? Unless the rear camera clarity just isnt as high priority for fsd processing and operation.

does this make a "zzzz..." kinda sound that comes from the right side of the car in front? its about 1 second ish in length?

i think i have heard this sound when i am leaving out of my garage. it occurs around the same location right as i am leaving out of the garage. i admit ive not used the wiper fluid, so i dont know what that sounds like, but it could be the same thing you are talking about.

When I looked closely at my fascia camera I noticed the glass lens cover has lots of small chips from road weatr and such so maybe a combination of using the camera more and also trying to clean the camera unsuccessfully from road wear on the glass lens cover. My service center said the glass cover is not replaceable so have to replace the entire camera $262.30 with labor and taxes. I’m thinking a design flaw since should have a replaceable clear cover so asked if it was covered under warranty since only 22k miles and they said no it’s wear. So I’m going to have them replace the camera and then I’m going to put a third party camera glass lens protection cover on it. The other discussion on this with more info is at

it was to prime the wiper fluid line to prevent dry strokes, so i thought, but on TSD i only spontaneous get dry wiping strokes

I've noticed the whizzzzz also. This change might imply that FSD will start leveraging the bumper cam. Early on, some YT'ers covered the camera and FSD didn't notice nor care.

My service center messaged me the night before my appointment to replace the fascia camera and said the spritzing was due to the V14 update and will likely continue with a new camera. I asked Grok if this was correct and also given the current wear on the lens how long would it last before causing FSD issues, Grok’s response was the service center’s response was correct and the camera lens should last another 10K to 30k more miles so I cancelled my appointment and will try the lens covers from Amazon to see if I can lengthen the life of the camera. Why is it that I Can't wash the front bumper camera while driving, only while parked?

I've tried cleaning the front camera at a stoplight, no can do!
The only time I can spray the front camera is while I'm Park. Kinda useless that way since I can manually get out and spray with a spray bottle at that time.

In off road mode you can see the cameras and front wash icon at all times if you want

I don't know why I haven't done this yet, but I just 2 button Rebooted, and now I can use the front camera sprayer while driving
