Here are some 3D prints I made to turn your CT into Rudolph.

1) Nose RudolphsNose.stl
You will need some 2 sided tape to keep it secured to the bumper, but the front holds it down tightly. I recommend "3M Double Sided Tape VHB".

2) Antlers, mounted in the window. CyberAntler_Window_Mount.stl
Any Gel Super Glue will work, I use "Loctite Super Glue Gel Control". The dowels fit tightly (intentionally) so I recommend you assemble them in this order:
a) Insert both dowels on one side first (left or right) and glue only antler ends that are touching.
b) Glue the inside of the other pieces and put them on one at a time, remember to glue the ends that touch.

3) Antlers using roof rack mounts. CyberAntlers_Bracket.stl

These are awesome Pops.. Which printer did you use? I just ordered a Bambu P2S as a treat for myself. I know almost 0% about 3d printing but I really wanted to get into it so I just dove in head first. I can't learn if I don't have a printer. Did you design these in some kind of CAD program?
I’ve also been fascinated with this. I ordered one of these for my 7 year old son and 5 year old daughter for Christmas on Black Friday. I don’t know enough to know if that was a good decision, but marketing-wise it sounded like the device most suited to kids. Many people have recommended the Bambu A1 to me, I was just looking for the most “fisher price” version of this technology so they would quickly have fun and hopefully get into it.

It’s still returnable so if you guys think this was a mistake, please speak up.

For that price I definitely think you should return it and go for the Bambi A1. I'm a complete newbie to this as well so my advice might not be solid, but from all the research I've been doing lately the Bambu seems to be the most user friendly and the A1 is the entry level, plus if you're gonna tinker with it yourself too its a better choice in my opinion for the same money. I don't know anything about the one you purchased, I've only been learning about the Bambu ones since that's what I bought. Seems fairly simple to use (I hope). My daughter is super excited about it too btw. She has a whole list of things she wants to print already.

Edit : So I took a quick look at the one you linked. The Bambu will let you print much larger things, about 3x larger. The one you have is a build volume of 75x80x90, the Bambu is 256x256x256

That wasn’t the price. I got the mega bundle for $199. Maybe I should have done that. I went back and forth like 100 times but I’m just not familiar enough with the terminology to have made an educated decision.
I watched this guy…

Because we all know everything that’s said on youtube is true.
It’s does seem like it would make smaller things. It was appealing to me that’s it enclosed to keep curious fingers out and that it’s supposedly targeted towards little people.
The version I got is the alpha 3

Ah ok, it's showing me $359. I'm pretty sure the one you got is similar to like the Bambu mini A-1. Long term you'd be better off with the Bambu, they are young now but that goes by too quickly.. As far as kid friendly, the one you got seems easy from the video they have on the site.

FYI my daughter is 8yo, so similar age. She didn't have any issue with using the maker website to find what she wants to print. Either way an adult would have to set things up on the printer side and they just hit print and it does it wifi like using a regular printer.

For $200 bucks you really can't go wrong with the one you got. Even if they somehow destroy it, it was cheap enough for them to tinker with it. If they love it you can always get a more serious one.

Again, im just as new to this as you are and I got it for myself as a new hobby. My daughter heard 3D printer and got super excited so we got to look through things together that she wanted to print too.

Entering in cheap isnt a bad idea. You will almost certainly want to go bigger and faster after you get a taste. Bambu really changed the industry and made 3D printing "easy". In the last few years most companies have followed suit and made huge improvements in ease of use.

I think a 3D printer is one of those things you will never get a return on investment for. Given how cheap plastic products are. The real value is making things that don't exist to solve a problem you might have.

The sales will come back, they always do. But if you get heavy into the hobby expect to end up spending hundreds on plastic spools. If you want to make heat resistant items for cars (even some parts in near the engine) you could see the spending go way up for the more exotic plastics like Nylons and PPA. For the heat resistance plastics you need a printer that can get extremely hot, but this is a niche use case.

Get them started early, who knows maybe your kids will come up with a multi-million dollar idea and buy you that boat you have wanted! Just be careful with off-gassing of some plastics. Have it run in a ventilated room, or in the garage, away from lungs.

Thank you. Sounds like sage advice.

It definitely won't hurt to ease into it, plus he got it for his kids (however I know for a fact he's going to be printing things for the CT while they are sleeping). I started out with "bigger and faster" because I know it's something I'm going to use and totally get into. You are correct, you can easily drop hundreds on accessories and spools - ask me know I know.

I was never looking for a return on investment - sure I could open some Etsy shop and make a small business out of it but that was never my intention. I just wanted a new hobby to learn, something I could also do with my kids and make cool things.
