Not in line with your primary goal of best all around, but I swapped out my factory AT's around 22k miles and went with Mickey Thompson Baja Legend EXP's. Knowing they were a hybrid mix between MT & AT tread and they were new offering from Mickey I was taking a gamble on wear vs. noise, but so far the only complaint after 28k miles on them is the noise has increased over time with some flat spots showing. I could likely get another 10-15k out of them as they are wearing slow. At least slower than the Tesla AT's did.

I am currently at 49,500 miles in total and likely will be looking at the 'coming soon' Mikey T's Baja Belted II ones coming out...if they will make them in either 35's or 37's. Old school 1980 looks with deep sitebiters but with good non-directional tread for easy rotations. With them being belted it should stop the flat spots ppl commonly see with aggressive radials. Here are the links to the ones I have and the new belted ones coming out soon I am thinking about...

Appreciate all of the discussion from everyone! I think I've made my decision - but feel free to poke holes in my thinking if anyone disagrees. It came down to:
1) Tesla OEM ATs
2) Falken Wildpeaks
3) Defender LTX platinum

..........Now just have to decide whether to get them put on at Costco or discout tire. Maybe some black friday deals will help me decide!
FWIW, since I travel a lot between states, I now use Discount Tire and found in the past that they would match Costco prices. There are many more Discount Tire locations than there are Costcos. While Costco inflates its tires with nitrogen, the convenience of Discount Tire outweighs any benefit from Costco.

Don't get me wrong, I have in the past bought from Costco. If you are staying local or have various Costco locations where you travel, it may not make a difference to you.

In the past, I have bought from Firestone Complete Auto Care as well.

Good luck with your choice!

Appreciate the insight! It does seem like both will fix flats, rotate, etc for free so your point about # of locations is very valid. Good to know DT price matches, too. Have you gotten the tire certificates (insurance) from DT before? Worth it or no?

Yes, I did buy their tire certificates. Before the tires I currently have on our Sequoia, I picked up a drill bit in a sidewall; they replaced the tire.

Months later, I bought a different set of tires with the certificates again. The cost of the certificates (which includes tire rebalancing, tire rotations, etc.) was roughly what it would have cost me to replace the tire if I had to pay for it. Thus, ignoring the time value of money, it was a breakeven issue when there was only one tire being replaced.

What are the odds of needing to replace multiple tires within the tire set's life cycle? I guess it depends on where and what road conditions you are faced with.

EDIT: I just checked Discount Tire's charge for 4 Certificates For Refund, Replacement, and the cost was 80% the cost of one tire.

3) Defender LTX platinums

Dropped the Tesla ATs quickly just because it would require a 4.5 hour round trip just to get them installed. Then when I consider the falkens vs platinums, it's just hard for me to justify the range/noise hit for off roading tires that I might use 2x a year and in a couple of snow events.

I actually like the look of the platinums the least out of any tire mentioned in this thread, but I guess part of being an adult is making the smart long term decision instead of the fun one 😂

Seems like the plats will give me really good range, really good road noise, last a decent amount of time, and should still be able to get me through a few off road trails and the occasional snow storm we get in southern Indiana.

I just did the same thing last week to upgrade to “real” truck tires that are E-rated - necessary to max out the truck’s towing capacity - threw away Pirelli Scorpions that still looked new after 9,500 miles, but it’s all about safety and towing specs in my world… the Plats ride very well and are quieter right out of the wrapper. You should like them.

I think your opinion would change if you drove back to back with a set of winter rated tires with deeper tread depth like the Duratracs.

Michelin LTX are my go to tires because they last forever... usually dry rotting before the tread is gone.
If only they had that little mountain symbol, they would be the perfect tire. My vote is the Bridgestone Dueler a/t because of that.

I plan on running these when I need new tires or if my stock pirellis really let me down come our first blast of snow. I haven’t seen anyone on the board review them yet. However a bunch of Rivian guys love them.

Question for you: Have you been able to find these tires anywhere in 285/65R20? I've called half a dozen places and nobody has any and could give no ETA. I called Pirelli and they were no help, but the person I talked to didn't seem interested in helping either so I am going to try again later.

When I talked to Pirelli in august they said the new design was rolling off the production line. I then called tire rack and got a quote. They were expecting them to be available around Oct. I attached my email from them….

I found one website. Summitracing.com it looked like they said they would ship by December 22nd. Figure more places will have them in stock around then. Hoping the weather holds since they were able to patch my tire last night.
