" miles per hour charged" has at least 5 variables and is a terrible way of measuring things unless you are trying to skew the data, simple as that.

It's an irrelevant measure of energy.

Because the Silverado doesn't go as far on that energy.

Yes, it "appears" that way. It's really just a grand illusion because GM will lose more money, the more they sell. So it won't be available in good volumes, in other words, it's just a cool party trick like the Hummer EV. Trucks that can't sustain high production volumes won't move the needle.

I wonder if they have solved the problem of dealerships marking the prices up, far above MSRP?

This isn’t rocket science. Chevy won’t be able to build their ev Trucks for any sort of profit and at scale.. they will lose billions and have to bail or have the government bail them out.. just like what happen to Ford this week…. Sure they made a good truck that some will enjoy. Many love their Lightenings… but they are going by the wayside.. and don’t expect the trucks to be less than 94k

Automaker competition is not fair, neither is life.
That is like saying you can't say a Tesla is better than a Fisker because Fisker is a small company that is going out of business.
Just like saying you can't compare the ugly looks of the Silverado to the great looks of the Cybertruck because Tesla has Franz.

Chevy has a vehicle with much more range
Chevy has chargers that charge way faster
Chevy has a much more capable truck

Chevy won the work truck category

Tesla won the luxury sports SUV category for people who want a 3rd vehicle

All pretty clear at this point. You could argue about the looks because that is subjective, but charge speed, range, and functions are hard to argue at this point.

Geez Louis.. let’s book mark this in like 2 years when Chevy can’t produce their “awesome truck” for a price many will afford, nor at a scale whatsoever.. so when they stop making it, it will be pretty clear who won this.. but stay in fantasy land.. it was the same argument when Ford Lightening came out [face palm]

If you don't understand the terminology that is fine, but "lying" is a strong word.

Tesla superchargers are now open to other EVs so the Chevy can charge anywhere the Tesla can, and at a much faster rate

Miles charged is very subjective, if you drive 30mph 1kwh will take you much further than at 90mph

Silverado EV was announced much later, got to market much faster

The Silverado is a big ugly work truck, where the Cybtertruck is a cool looking sports car minivan hybrid. But if you are under the opinion that the Silverado has less range, or slower charging I don't know what to tell you.

Tesla just started producing Cybertrucks, so agreed you can't expect them to have ALL models at the beginning. But the Cybetruck pricing was in 2019 money, which has 25% less buying power than it did before (hence EVERYTHING has gone up a lot in the last 4 years). Not to acknowledge that is disingenuous...

The big tell though is the Hummer EV. GM has barely built any in the last 2 year (less than 20,000). So to think GM is going to ramp the Silverado EV any better is laughable (basically the same truck). Especially since the profit was much higher on the Hummer (due to higher overall prices).

I think the CT pricing announced in 2019 was for the pricing in expected 2021 delivery *not* 2019.

For your pricing, show a column with inflation adjusted old price to today? 5 years of inflation will close that gap of the old number to current
I got AWD at $62K and Tri $87K
Vs non found $80K and $99K
AWD +$18K for 40 miles incr range
Tri + $19K less range
Would have been nice to have lower numbers
But the demand is rhere

Announced in 2019 for 2021 delivery so prices announced were for 2021
... thus not 5 years.

Remember, Tesla had an option to put higher battery but they consciously didn’t do it. I trust those engineers to be smarter than me when it comes to making these very key decisions.

I don’t understand why OP and some other folks in this thread are trying so desperately to prove CT to be the worst and Silverado to be the best. Look, everyone has different needs. Some are happy with 250-300 mile range and 122KW battery. Charge time for CT is better. You can twist that however you want. 122KW battery will charge faster than 200+KW battery. That’s pure physics and chemistry. I can’t believe we have to argue with basic facts like this.

Many prefer the uniqueness of CT over Silverado (metal body, steer by wire, futuristic design, the list is long). If Silverado fits your bill, then go for it. You don’t have to prove the world that your decision is the best decision for the entire world, unless you are not very confident with your decision and need some validation here. Sorry, you won’t get much as this is CT forum. Most people here love CT, despite few non-factual things that are getting called out in this thread!

As a Tesla shareholder and CT enjoyer I am disappointed that CHEVY of all companies appears to have made a more capable vehicle by range of metrics, usability, and versatility.
No steer by wire and the Silverado looks like a regular ugly truck, but the stat sheet is better than the CT and that is disapointing.

My take is that this is going to happen a lot. Chevy, and other brands are going to “max out” capabilities as a way to “prove” they are better and market the heck out of it. It’s smart, I would probably do the same thing.

However, will they ever make more than 20,000 of these? Can they scale these at this cost? How much money are they losing on each one? There are a lot of economics at play here. My guess is they only ship this truck for bragging rights and it’s heavily altered later. Tesla could have built a 9000lb truck that does the same thing. They are not lacking the tech, it’s just a strategic decision. One that may or may not work out

Only time will tell, but if they don’t make many of these, I won’t be surprised.

I don’t want to drive a super heavy truck every day. You can feel the cybertruck’s weight already. I like that decision personally.

Discussion is fine, but saying Silverado is better because you think so doesn’t make it better for everyone. People have different preferences. Depending on what parameters you use, CT might be better for someone or Silverado might be better for someone else. This thread title clearly says Silverado blows away CT. That might be true for the OP but not for the entire world. CT blows away Silverado for many who want Stainless steel body or 0-60 in 2.6 secs or 20 mins charging curve or steer by wire or futuristic design or secure vault or adjustable suspension or wade mode or what not! If you want to compare, share unbiased facts and not your personal opinion or personal trip statistics. Your stats might look different than mine. I just did 8 hours road trip over spring break. I absolutely can’t wait for 2 hours to charge an EV after driving for 4 hours. So Silverado is a no go for me. This might not be the same for someone else. Just put the stats and let people decide instead of saying one truck blows away another because you think so! Nothing blows away anything. People have different requirements and choose based on what’s important for them. There is no one size fit all.
