Anyone with young kids knows how hard it is to keep a car clean—snacks, spills, sticky fingers, and toys everywhere. When I had my Model Y, I tried a pet liner to protect the back seats. It helped, but coverage was limited and messes still got through.
So when I picked up my Cybertruck, finding the right liner became a top priority. If you’re spending this much on a vehicle and plan to keep it for several years (in my case 10+ yrs on average), it’s worth protecting. The problem is most liners are built for pets, not kids. Many lack proper seat belt pass-throughs for car seats or a middle passenger, and some have stiff bottoms that aren’t practical for families.
Tesla’s version looked nice but wasn’t durable enough and didn’t provide enough side coverage. Then I came across 4Knines—and was honestly impressed. The design is thoughtful, the material durable, and the coverage excellent. So far, it’s the closest thing I’ve found to the perfect liner for families. I chose the model: Crew Cab Truck Seat Cover with Hammock Mesh Window for Fold Up Seats and here's why it fits the bill.
First here is a shot of the liner in action with child car seats. The material is very durable.
The hammock style is a game-changer with kids. They can rest their feet or kick without scuffing the back of the front seats, and any toys that drop stay contained on the hammock instead of rolling onto the floor. The best part is the toys are still within reach, so you’re not constantly picking them up. In my Model Y, I learned the hard way — once the seat backs get scratched, there’s really no way to fix them. I wish I had gone with the hammock style from the start
In the middle of the liner, there’s a mesh panel that lets air flow through to keep the little ones cool, while also preventing toys and other items from falling to the floor. I do have all-weather mats, but cleaning them can still be a hassle depending on the mess, so this extra layer of protection makes a big difference.
When it’s time to anchor a car seat, the liner includes a convenient seat belt pass-through with a flap. It only opens just enough for the belt to slide through, keeping the rest covered so crumbs and food don’t fall inside.
This feature really impressed me. The liner is designed to work with fold-up seats, which is perfect if you have one child and still need extra storage space. I can simply unzip that section, fold up the seats behind the passenger, and they remain fully protected by the liner.
Notice the little skirt under the seats which provides additional protection and ensures the liner fits snug.
In the crevice where the passenger seat can fold up, this crack is nice and snug. nothing is getting through and even in the event that it could, the skirts under are protecting your seats.
The sides closest to the doors are protected by a flap too.
Ohh if you want to use the cup holders in the middle area, you can totally unzip the liner and do that too.
At $159.99 MSRP, these liners are definitely an investment, but the creator has spent over a decade refining the design. What you’re really paying for are the premium features you won’t find bundled together in other liners. Some competitors may offer one or two of them, but not the full package—and the innovation is still ongoing.
The only area I see for improvement is their separate door-protection liner (Car Door Covers That Stay In Place - XL). At this time I can't really recommend it to CT owners. Tesla’s own version relies on flimsy clips that pop off too easily, while this brand uses flat clips with Velcro backing. The issue is that the Cybertruck doesn’t allow flat clips to slide between the window and door panel—a setup that works fine for traditional ICE trucks but not here. A simple solution would be redesigning it to hook over the top of the door, which would make it much more effective for EV owners.
Of course my kids have shown that they can just get around the problem by lifting the liner by the door so I don't think there is really a true solution unless we could secure it to the door and it took considerable force to remove it.
I just wanted to share my experience for anyone with a Cybertruck and kids who cares about keeping the interior clean. Most people think of these liners as being just for pets, but they work just as well—if not better—for families. It’s been a game-changer for me: easy to vacuum, shake out crumbs, or toss in the washing machine, and it comes out looking brand new. You can get yours here.
I'm happy to answer any questions or check anything you need. When I find a premium product that works well, I get really excited and need to share the experience.
