How would your bonus depreciation work?
What work are you going to be doing with it that you would have done with the Lambo?

Was looking for a work vehicle to take advantage of the bonus depreciation and honestly Tesla wasn't initially even a consideration. I was looking at Porsche Cayenne, Range Rover, Cadillac IQ, and for a second even considered a Lambo Urus. I was walking around the mall w the wife and while she was shopping stumbled into the Tesla dealership. They had a CT on the floor and i got into a conversation with the Tesla rep (i dont think they call them salespeople) and he was like "hey just take one for a drive" and hands me the Key card and gives me two minutes of instruction and says be back in 2 hours. First, I have never had an experience like that at a car dealership - no pressure, no BS, just "here's the keys". I have to say i was blow away at the acceleration, the handling and most of all the FSD. I picked up the wife and we rode around and even she loved it. I returned it and told the guy I was going to go look at the other aforementioned cars and he said "why don't u take a Model X to go car shopping" and sets me up with one for the NIGHT!! Who does that? The X DROVE ME to all the other dealers - "take me to the Porsche dealer" (FSD is unreal) and after test driving everything it wasn't even close.

All the other cars were great but the bottom line was they are just different variations of each other (some faster, some smoother, nicer interior) the CT is like stepping into a freaking episodes of the Jetson's. The steer by wire and FSD totally clinched it not to mention the CT seems so much more functional (large bed size, electric outlets, etc). Even the buying experience was amazing as you basically complete the entire process on the app. I took advantage of their 0% financing and the paperwork literally took under 5min. Overall just an amazing experience.

I NEVER thought i would buy a CT (or really any EV) and I am totally addicted to this truck. I have owned some of the highest end models from nearly every brand and this is easily (so far) the best, most fun vehicle I have ever owned. I read a lot about how it is a flop and not selling well and watched all the videos about how the initial quality was not the best but even with all that the truck was so much better than everything else i drove I went for it and am willing to put up with some of the quirks and possible problems that might come with it. MY biggest problem with it is the compulsion I have for buying accessories, I probably have 4-5 packages a day arriving and I think it is confusing our Amazon delivery guy who previously must have only thought my wife lived here. I just can't wait to get it wrapped!!!!

Isn't that just commuting to work which does not count as business use?
I'm just trying to figure out if I can too.
I own commercial real estate that I drive to every day (I work in part of the building) so could I make your same argument I wonder?
Did you buy it under your company or personally?

Yeah, I peeked my head in one when we were replacing my wife's XC90 with a Model X. Before the X even arrived Tesla sent me an email offering a weekend take home test drive on a CT. Needless to say, I'm saying goodbye to the Tacoma and picking up a CT on Saturday.

According to Grok:

Key IRS Definitions: Business Use vs. CommutingThe IRS categorizes vehicle usage into three types: business, commuting, and personal. Only business use is deductible under Section 179 and bonus depreciation. Here’s how they’re defined:
  • Business Use: Includes travel directly related to your trade or business, such as:
    • Driving between job sites or workplaces.
    • Traveling to meet clients, suppliers, or for other business purposes.
    • Transporting business-related equipment or materials.
    • For real estate investors, driving to inspect potential properties, visit rental properties, or oversee construction/renovation projects typically qualifies as business use, provided it’s directly tied to your business operations.

  • Commuting: Travel between your home and a regular place of business (e.g., a fixed office or primary workplace). Commuting is not deductible, even if you conduct some business activities during the trip (e.g., making business calls).

  • Personal Use: Any non-business travel, such as running personal errands or driving for leisure, is not deductible.
Does Your Cybertruck Usage Qualify as Business Use?Based on your description, your use of the Cybertruck appears to primarily fall under business use, not commuting, for the following reasons.

i figure that is enough, Grok tends to be long winded.

Nice!

This is why those familiar with Tesla say "Butts in seats sells cars!". Welcome to the club!

Welcome! We traded our VERY NICE Tesla Model X for the CT. OMG!! It is just too much!! We are getting old and it is nice for it to just drive us where we are going. Sure would like to summon it from WAY BACK THERE in the parking lot where we park. Heh heh. Mac

How would you say the Cybertruck is ergonomically for the driver and front seat passenger compared to your Model X? Does one feel like it has more room (headroom, shoulder room, hip room, leg room, console/door pocket room) than the other?

It is significantly more comfortable. I had an x loaner for a couple days I couldn’t wait to get my truck back. It’s so much roomier in the cabin and way better storage. That tiny windshield visor on the x was almost useless. Terrible design. And the sound system in the truck is night and day better. The truck is THE tesla vehicle to get and it’s not even close.

Totally agree, when I drive my wife's year-old Mini, it feels like I'm driving a tractor after driving my Cybertruck.

This is quite a reoccurring theme with Cybertruck naysayers turned converts. All it really takes is to drive the car and your perception almost instantly changes. Congrats and enjoy the ride!
