Having driven a Model X around quite a bit, I would consider it more of a 3-row minivan than an SUV. And as the owner of a Model Y, the 7 seater doesn't really count.. 3rd row is only for very small children or babies.
Elon has made his opinion about PR and Marketing very clear -- he believes they are tools for manipulating people and he prefers to invest his money in building great products. (whether that's a balanced view or not is up for debate.. but that's his viewpoint)
He also has stated quite clearly...
I'm very appreciative of Elon's strident support of free speech, his strong negative reaction to suppression and silencing of dissent & alternative viewpoints, and his willingness to fight tyranny in all its forms. I admire his tendency to put his money where his mouth is and take action. I'm...
The great thing about TSLA stock is how widely misunderstood it is, partially due to an injection of FUD by the traditional OEMs. This presents an enormous opportunity for retail investors who are willing to do their own research to understand the company. Much of the hard lifting for that...
I have CT reservation(s) as well as R1S. What I really want is a large SUV, and if there were a CyberSUV I'd be all over that. I can make the CT work, but R1S is the form factor I'm after. After R1T went into production, I recently made an R1S reso, so I'm assuming I'll get the CT first.
My S.W.A.G.:
I think that Tesla is struggling with ramping 4680 production in the short term, but they are stockpiling enough they're comfortable they can bring Berlin (and maybe Austin) online with supplies from CA.
I think they feel relatively comfortable in the ramp, especially in the medium...
It wasn't an engineering thought process.. it was a Dealer relations thought process... i.e. how are we going to keep our Jeep dealers in business with EVs? I got it, transmission repairs.
I think Rivian is the choice for vans, at least for the near future. They are making a crap ton of them for Amazon. Those things would make great campers if you could buy a run-out from Amazon after a couple hundred thousand miles.
If you listened to the whole JRE interview, Elon did mention...
It must be a really sucky feeling to be a CEO and not to have your company's supply chain destiny in your own hands.. you are left publicly asking two battery companies to come to a settlement, and whining about not enough manufacturing supply. Imagine if you could just invest in your supply...
Very cool, thanks for providing that info. Of course, my relying on information from a year and a half ago, when dealing with Tesla, made me way out of date. And I believe they mentioned they were already working on HW4 back at that point. The InFo SoW product sounds really cool and I'm sure the...
A short story to paint the scene of Germany.. I was in Germany for the past two weeks and just got home to Texas on Sunday night. It's a beautiful fall season right now, with lots of colorful foliage, nippy air, and light rain like a New England autumn. I left the day before their new monthlong...
The leader of the chip design team said during autonomy day that the FSD chips are fabricated by Samsung in Austin, Texas.
I would argue that "designing" and "making" your own computer chip are pretty much the same thing, in the eyes of the layman. Who actually fabs it isn't super important...
