  1. Chevy Silverado EV RST functionality (tailgate, rear window, midgate, range, HUD) blows away Cybertruck

I agree, different market. But the RST does show how many features are missing from CT. Tesla minimalism if also "cheapism". Look at the work that Chevy put into the tailgate alone. The original reason Musk claimed for CT was to attract the huge number of traditional truck buyers to EV. Like...
  2. Massive oversight: bidirectional home charging V2H

I use a higher charge setting when the weather forecast is bad. Wide spread wether outages don't happen without warning. Local outages always have crews available for a reasonably quick fix. I typically wait a couple of hours before getting out the portable generator. But I would like to plug...
  3. Massive oversight: bidirectional home charging V2H

A 240V inverter is important, bidirectional is not. It seems to me that the former is highly likely and the later isn't going to happen. Many reasons to not do bidirectional, including NMC cells. The counter argument is that there may very well be bidirectional pieces in powerwall and wall...
  4. TESLA Hate and FUD

Don't expect to come out ahead picking stocks. Cathie Wood's Ark Investment, the biggest Musk investor fanclub, underperforms the SP500 index fund. Please link to analysts comments about Tesla going bankrupt.
  5. Cybertruck Predictions - Battery Size & Range!

Time per year much less than gas, unless you have installed a fuel tank at home. When the need for DCFC charging happens average time is perhaps 20-30 minutes. With a bit of planning you typically are just not sitting and waiting for the charge. Perhaps you shop, or pee, or answer emails. (no...
  6. Can we talk Skid Plates?

Rivian offers an optional steel skid plate that must be installed at assembly. I hope Tesla does better with a high quality standard synthetic solution. I also hope that Tesla has considered how third party rock rails could be installed. And the front winch. Rivian markets offroad but didn't...
  7. Double stacked 4680 cells for the Cybertruck long range version?

True, but any non-simple approach adds cost. Tesla is not trying to final assemble a semi every 40 seconds. Rivian originally had plans to stash cells in secondary location to increase range over 300 miles. But once the reality of production was experienced they seem to have dropped those plan.
  8. [The Limiting Factor] Sodium Ion Batteries for Vehicles // Analysis

He talks about volumetric density as the primary metric for vehicle batteries. But in purpose built EV energy by cell weight is at least as important.
  9. Cybertruck Predictions - Battery Size & Range!

I think Tesla just doesn't sell the largest pack variants for a year or two. Tesla's likely quandary is whether to place the 300 miles quad above or below the $80K tax limit. There are good arguments for either direction. I don't think Tesla will vary the price in the first six to nine months...
  10. Double stacked 4680 cells for the Cybertruck long range version?

Rivian is all double stack. In a high clearance vehicle that battery thickness works in the vehicle. Tesla is 2 cm taller with 4680, but I doubt that is a problem. There is absolutely no reason to expect significantly better 4680 cells from Tesla for CT. Cost is what matters, not wh per cell.
  11. Portable air compressor rec for truck/home?

No need for a battery compressor with CT. I like a major brand 120V pancake compressor for about $140. A compressor is needed more because to oil change tire pressure check with EV. I assume a non-battery compressor charges faster.
  12. Will it be possible to outfit a cybertruck with a CD player without screwing things up?

OK, serious answer. Car CD player with a line out to bluetooth adapter might work. What could be groovy is finding a CD carousel and hiding it, perhaps under the second row. It would probably need 120V. And yes, ripping the CD would be the rational solution. But that's not what OP asked.
  13. Will it be possible to outfit a cybertruck with a CD player without screwing things up?

If OP was a millennial it would be vinyl. Let's see if he asks about plaid seat covers, and if the CT is really an El Camino.
  14. Tesla to open ~20% of its U.S. Supercharger network to other EV by end of 2024

In the U.S., does Tesla have any "charging deserts" along interstates? The Supercharger problem I have is off interstate. If Tesla was altruistic they would do more than 3500. What Tesla is doing is good PR.
  15. Tesla to open ~20% of its U.S. Supercharger network to other EV by end of 2024

All destination chargers are available to CCS vehicles now. My understanding is that not many are being put in anymore. Proprietors now understand that all vehicles can charge on J1772.
  16. Tesla to open ~20% of its U.S. Supercharger network to other EV by end of 2024

I meant to type "1 to 3500 locations". The 7000 is half superchargers and half converting Tesla destination chargers (hotels and such). "Supercharger" refers to either a single charger or location. The announcement refers to single chargers. Tesla has about 4500 Supercharger locations...
  17. Rivian's plan for Rock Crawling is a low-range crawler gearbox. Is it something Cybertruck S.B. looking at?

Rivian can't supply a full size spare with an R1T purchase. They can't supply a tonneau cover for the R1T bed. They ain't making a low range gear vehicle any time soon. The CT is way too big and heavy as a rock crawler. Where crawler gears are used is pulling very heavy loads off road. Modern...
  18. Tesla to open ~20% of its U.S. Supercharger network to other EV by end of 2024

3500 chargers, which will include between 1 and 3500 locations. Only 250kw chargers, so the older 150kw superchargers will not include CCS.
  19. Tesla to open ~20% of its U.S. Supercharger network to other EV by end of 2024

Tesla charges fine on CCS sites like EA. You just need to buy the adapter from Tesla in North America. In Europe the cars are made with CCS2 sockets.
