Of course. Insurance, Sure. Won't cost you a cent, right?
Just ask your insurer or agent about the total fallout from making one legitimate claim. Lose a no-claims discount? See your rates increased -- by how much and for how long? Make any further claim and risk that at expiry-time they...
To avoid rusting, apparently the owners manual warns of the need to wash off salt after driving in it. A main reason I ordered the CT was to not have to worry about road salt. Body's bullet proof but don't let salt get on it? Am I buying a summer truck?
FROM THE GLOBE AND MAIL: "Shows are still an expensive place to be, too. The bigger the show, the bigger the costs. At Frankfurt, the huge halls devoted to showcase the home-town brands of Volkswagen and Daimler were estimated to cost those exhibitors upwards of $40-million each; at New York, a...
Makers have to pay big bucks to rent floor space at these shows. So it's a form of advertising, and Tesla doesn't advertise.
Which is one reason why my next vehicle will be a Tesla. If I bought anything else, I'd be paying back to the maker what it spent to get me to buy it.
We all (unless some readers are dealers) hope this CEO's plan passes, and that other makes will follow suit. But two concerns are that this is one single newspaper's story, and Ford has a history of getting rid of executives. Let's not celebrate until we see what the Texas dealership consortium...
Tire design is a compromise. That is, making one aspect better will make another worse.
Airless design is well underway, notably by a Michelin division -- for combat vehicles.
Early civilian applications are expected to be for off-road machinery (many early farm-tractor tires were airless)...
Highways could include induction charging, ice-melt heating, load-bearing detection, and who knows what else. The issue is the cost/benefit ratio, and until that becomes appealing, I don't see Tesla participating.
To apply some ergonomist-speak to Tesla, the machine communicates with the operator through a multi-function visual display. Fine. Just please explain why that display is located some 60 degrees to the driver's side rather than closer to the line of sight.
If it were moved to directly in front...
No maker would offer a model that would be illegal to "road" in that jurisdiction.
Have heard (don't know if true) that some places restrict what can be sold more than what can be driven, so a maker might sell with a round wheel and stuck-out side mirrors, but provide a yoke steerer and...
Agree. I've maintained from the outset that Tesla needs to hire -- and listen to -- a good ergonomist (human factors engineer).
I hope that the production and electronic engineers have finished showing off that they can put everything onto a central screen, and provide the CT with more...
Depends on what juice you're after. "Crab"? Sure. Want to do a sharp turn by braking one rear (sometimes called a "cutting," "braking" or "tractor" turn)? No -- unless the fronts were steer-turned to a more acute angle than would be safe for a road vehicle.
Ryan, every vehicle that gets driven, no matter how simple the design and sophisticated the execution, will need parts and service . So if and when you do get your Rivian, better keep your fingers crossed.
I read in some place authoritative that Tesla makes nothing from selling cars but from offsets or permits or something of that ilk. Can somebody explain?

Turns out that Tesla does not convert the US price into Canadian at standard exchange rates; they apply their own formula. Also, a new federal Canadian "luxury tax" comes into effect on Jan 1, 2022. It's 20% of the amount of a list price that exceeds C$100k. Another variable is the province...
"You might want to get a quote on a Tesla in your state, if you have not considered insurance costs."
Good advice because once you pay for the vehicle, you're done paying. But you pay for insurance every day, every hour throughout your ownership, whether driving or storing.
Collision might be...
No -- no. Tesla stock is ready to tank bigtime! Sell sell sell! Please.
Because, as the father said when he entered the ice-cream store with his kiddies, "I'm buyin'!"
