Ordered a Rivian R1T after owning a Cybertruck for three months

No, I'm very familiar with the "problem."

Ordered a Rivian R1T after owning a Cybertruck for three months

Definitely, which Rivian is just now moving towards. Gen 2 cleans up 1.6 miles of wiring and goes towards a zonal rather than domain-based vehicle management system. They now make their own motors, not Bosch. Etc. Meanwhile I can put my huge-ass dirt bike in it, and also the rather large...

Ordered a Rivian R1T after owning a Cybertruck for three months

I tell this to Rivian people all the time. It's the same reason that the Apple ecosystem keeps people in it; cohesive, always works, and you never have to wonder if doing X will cause Y problem due to immature integration. Sometimes this gets me called a Tesla fanboi.

Ordered a Rivian R1T after owning a Cybertruck for three months

I gave up waiting for the CT and got a 2022 Launch Edition R1T. The lack of Autopilot on city streets is terrible. Here are my notes so far on the good/bad compromises. Rivian Tesla comparison Missing in comparison to Tesla: Autopilot on streets. Not charging notification when at...

Earth day Rivian R1 discount - $5K discount when you trade a gas car.

LOL, I can assure you that of all the people who have told me they wouldn't buy a Tesla because of the narcissistic man-child, not one would be able to deal with being on Reddit. I love the irony of the idiots on one extreme political side or the other having a struggle with someone making EVs...

Earth day Rivian R1 discount - $5K discount when you trade a gas car.

Because I've held two CT reservations for years and would have bought one in a split second if I could have. That sounds fun, thanks for suggesting it.

Earth day Rivian R1 discount - $5K discount when you trade a gas car.

I'm one of the rats deserting the Tesla ship for a Rivian. I agree, stop believing the one-sided views here and in other Tesla spaces. Is my R1T perfect? Nope. Are there things I wish they had, that Tesla does? Yes. Are there things it has that I always wished for in a Tesla? Also yes...

    24’ Cable on Wall Connector!

Yes, two years ago when this thread was current, there were different options and needs. Nice necropost however. Nearly everyone can still just use the mobile adapter however, with TOU metering and the larger batteries, since that can still do 0-100 under most such plans. I test drove a...

Towing my new Zero electric bike with the Tesla

I have a One RS, and have used it, but it's not mounted all the time. Do you have it permanently mounted? Powered? I'd love to see your mount. I used this for a first ride video. I had it up higher when riding. I had it out of the way here to get LED turn signals programmed.

Towing my new Zero electric bike with the Tesla

A great point. I typically pack around bikes, but it depends on what is going of course and how many people. But here's an example of me using a rack for a medium bike, and while not ideal, it wasn't totally horrible. I used a wild amount of energy. Towing with a sedan is not a good...

Towing my new Zero electric bike with the Tesla

I've kicked this around as an option. I'm not sure I'd be happy doing 500 miles with it. (Bought the bike in San Diego, towed to Los Angeles, rode, then towed to Phoenix.) I bet that with the windscreen off and the bike wrapped in plastic, it would do little to the Tesla range. I would...

Towing my new Zero electric bike with the Tesla

Meh. The difference between stupid and an adventure is whether you made it. So there we were, towing a CR500 with a Jeep because it wouldn't start, when it suddenly fired up....

Towing my new Zero electric bike with the Tesla

Well, when the car was at 1%, I was thinking about how I could hang the back wheel off the trailer and run a string from the throttle to my window... There's certainly no reason you couldn't tow the bike and regen charge it.

Towing my new Zero electric bike with the Tesla

LOL, yeah, I forgot that. But unfortunately, it is never possible in Buckeye, and that's a 100% required stop for me going to CA with a trailer. There's no way to make it from Quartzsite to the Glendale charger with a trailer. And Buckeye is always heavily used so I can't park sideways, and...

Why Do Teslas Keep Smashing Emergency Vehicles? (Warning: Graphic images in article)

They repeated everything was still unknown. No update, just another blathering hit piece.

I had no idea that your claim that nobody has done a study actually meant that there's not a national standard.

Why Do Teslas Keep Smashing Emergency Vehicles? (Warning: Graphic images in article)

It wasn't "my DOT" I was working with multiple DOTs across the country. I don't know the specific results of the testing, just that I was there for presentations on the testing by various DOTs and third party industry organizations. I was involved in video systems for traffic management...

Why Do Teslas Keep Smashing Emergency Vehicles? (Warning: Graphic images in article)

You are completely wrong on that, so now I imagine that everything else you've said is founded on equally incorrect assumptions? Source: I ran a company that worked in DOT safety for a few years, and worked directly with safety engineers.
