A look at the new Tesla Roadster's battery pack (150 kWh) and and drive unit, which is one-third more powerful than the Model S Plaid’s, with half the mass.

Tesla: “The new high-voltage battery and drive unit technology used to drive Roadster enables our most powerful and compact rear-wheel drive unit yet. Together, they deliver 1 MW of pure power-that's one third more power than Model S Plaid-with half the mass. The result is paradigm-shifting acceleration with amazing cornering and precise stopping power.”

I was just wondering if you have a source for the battery capacity at 150kWh as that would mean the 300mile range uses 500Wh/mile, so more than a cybertruck? I'd have thought that this car (in cruise mode without downforce add on active) would be just as slippery as a M3, so around 250Wh/km, which would only need a 80-100kWh pack (420kg 192S4P). Most of that size is to sustain peak charge/discharge/regen rates for track use using the new 4680s.

Maybe the extra battery capacity is for charging the thrusters.... and not for just acceleration/range.

It's 115kWh.

Thrusters refill is external to the car.
Based on sone estimates I've seen it would use up half the pack if powered internally.

So wait...Lars and Elon disagree? I don't think so.

Lars never said the charging system was external - unless I missed something.

Elon said this during the launch event. Just click here and it will start while Elon is speaking about this.

Isn't the Cybertrucks tank filled with nitrogen?

Massively smaller - but the same concept, right? ( I mean the compressor and tank would be massively different)

Oh, thanks for that correction. Lars is speaking to now, Elon to the future? Does line up with older Elon post which.

Ideal minimum energy requirements (100% efficiency, free cooling) for tank filling:
200L @ 5kpsi: 11kWh
200L @ 10kpsi: 24kWh
600L @ 5kpsi: 33kWh
600L @ 10kpsi: 72kWh

Cybertruck is only nitrogen filled when it is recharged after service. System itself is open loop to ambient air.

Thanks, I'm very interested in information about the 200L @ 10kpsi: 24kWh variant as I have a reservation for the "Thrust".

That is ALOT of energy used up for the air compression, which makes sense given the size and PSI. Lars did say they are working on a solution to get that down to 30min but I'm not sure if this is using onboard power/motor or perhaps you can plug into a supercharger or a 240V outlet?

This also means the Thrust and Rocket will need to have an onboard air compressor as well that will be powered by either the onboard power or perhaps it can be powered and ran quicker using 240V power from home or even able to be powered via a supercharger?

Very nice. It would be excellent if all of your ideas turned out to be true. It makes sense.

I can't imagine a 120vAC or 48vDC pump could reach 10Kpsi.

30 minute recharge would require pack level power output, way over the 11.5kW a 48A 240V wall connector puts out.

Well... it *could*, just not at usable volumes 😉
Wouldn't a non usable volume mean that it can't do it?

I don't understand your statement.
